You are soooo right...I love me some adventures and have gotten to see a TON of places I never dreamed I'd get to see, so it's not all that bad.

I head back to PDX tomorrow. It's been good to see everyone, but I'm ready to be ina city where the night begins at 9PM rather than ends. That's too bad you couldn't make it back for Christmas. Everyone kept saying your mom was pretty bummed.

You inspired Dad and I to pull out the old videotapes from Christmas past. It was CRAZY to look at all of us 20 years ago and realize no matter how much things changed, things are still pretty the same. You were playing any variety of instruments, Justin and Jonathan were playing with giant trucks and machinery, etc..and Grandpa dressed up as Santa. It was funny to watch us continually ask where Grandpa was and the crazy excuses they would make up. Good times..

Life is good, just busy. I'm traveling a lot for work, which is fun but not so condusive to having much of a social life. I'm hoping to transfer into a position with less traveling at some point this year. We shall see how that works?

How's stuff for you?

No, no..she was very impressed. She was talking about you and said she wished she could see you and I told her I could make that happen. She got quite the kick out of it. BC is BC...I'm bored. I hear you got stranded in LA becuase of Snowmageddon.

Break from life, huh? I'm always in the mood for one of those. I've been a traveling maniac this summer, but am thinking about a trip down south to see Jen and Dave in the fall. I'd love to spend some time in sunny LA. I'm thinking the week of Sept. 15th, but I'll keep you posted when I know for sure.

I'm doing pretty good. I work for FedEx now, which is about as stable of employment I'm going to find in my field. I just got back from Pickathon out at Pardarvis Farm this weekend.
It was AWESOME, but also explains why I am late in saying HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! Hope you had a good one!

have you ever googled intelligentsia LA? the reviews are so funny. some people hate the "femme boys." most think they are oh so attractive, haha. some people are too shy to enter cause the space is too open and light. some people think the coffee tastes like dirt. brent- i think one of the owners of albina said it is great. common denominator is that it's too expensive... and there arent any vagan pastries...

all said while i am eating my chipotle burrito and guac :)

so when I was in seattle, andrews brother in law was telling me about the yamaha music school... its something I'm thinking about doing to make some extra cash on the side this summer since I've been wanting to maybe take on a couple piano students.
anyway, he said that they apparently send you to LA for two weeks to train or something.... I tried looking at their website to get more info but it was a little confusing.

All in all, I'm writing to tell you that theres like a 5% chance I'll be in LA this summer.

hey ryan!
we've been in kirkland/seattle now for a few days. its been fantastic.
lots of good coffee.
we went to vivace and vita first.
vivace was great, vita was meh.
stumptown was good and victrola was good...
too bad you cant come up and meet us.
We may skip portland and vancouver....
I forgot my birth certificate so we cant go to vancouver anyway.
And there is just so much stuff to do in seattle, I dont want to feel rushed into trying to hit up all these places at one time... not to mention the cost of gas here. HOLY BUCKETS!!!!!!

I hope life is treating you well.

thats a bummer, but also pretty sweet news. I'm sure you'll be having as much "fun" as us....
and yeah, sam and I plan on being in Portland for a day or two.
Andrew has given us a small list of places to go and things to see but we are always up for adding more!
Got to soak up as much as I can while away from the NCU, if ya get what I mean *groan*...

man, lots of big things happening around these parts, wish I had time to tell you. I'll shoot you a message sometime soon and let you know about it.

so i had yesterday and today off from the bakery, and when my brother told me, i immediately thought "california." i thought that i was to also get saturday off too for president's day holiday, but it was not to be. i really wanted to drive down (or fly) but it wa snot meant to be. i will call you soon, probably tomorrow. we'll chat.

aha, ok, so i was at stumptown at the ace hotel. and they were about to close, and i really did think that they were going to give me a free cup of brewed coffee since they were going to have to through the rest of the pot out. the girl at the bar told me they brew each is individually. i didn't ask, because people at stumptown are MOSTLY rude, but i was curious to know how they did it without being french press. so it's safe to assume they have a clover?
