The Rubber Room returns on Saturday November 28th for a round of hard hitting rock'n'roll from howlin' blues through stuttering rockabilly, into surf and frat before winding up with some killer 60's garage. come on down and do the stroll, the shimmy, the shake, whatever moves you and let's have a party! Spinning the savage 45's will be Nick Smith & Tom Lawrie plus friends sleazy video projections all night. Bridget Hayden CDR (ROWF16) out now

Recorded at The Bowling Green pub in Manchester on 17th November 2008, when Bridget was on tour with Marcia Bassett, this is a maximal 25-minute set of epic guitar brutalising and deep, moaned vocal incantations. Employing a bow and 'metal' effects pedals, the resulting cacophony is orchestral in scope, rendering almost unreliable the memory of one woman and her instrument. Somewhat akin to Bassett's duo with Matthew Bower, Hototogisu, the deeply layered tones created by Hayden offer, upon first exposure, a somewhat icy auditory experience, but as the recording settles in, the richness and sheer breadth of sound wraps around you like a feather quilt and shifts your perception almost 180 degrees. A truly magnificent set from this former Vibracathedral Orchestra member.

Limited to 80 copies with sleeves printed on recycled paper using soya based ink

This band are the kings of sleazy rock'n'roll, take the raw urgency of Johnny Burnette Trio, the savage sounds of Link Wray and raise it on a diet of low budget b-movies, sexploitation flicks and juvenile delinquency and you almost have it.

We wanted them to play at our 3rd birthday party last year but they were booked 6 months up in advance so we had to wait our turn for the sleazy sounds! Be sure you don't miss this one!

As well as the band we will be spinning the usual blend of rockn'roll / garage / frat / surf instrumentals / r'n'b and other oddballs that seem to fit the night.
