Sorry results have not been coming in but this season has been working for a cause year. So far community pump park has been completed, community jump park has begun, and I have just after 6 years convinced the locals to allow me to put in a skate/bike park for the kids. Park has begun full 4 sided box jump and quarter done and the rest in the works. Thanks for being behind me in the past and I hope to work with you next race season when all the community volunteer work is done. P.S. The Rift Zone, B17, Mount Vision Pro, and Quake 7.3 are all bringing me top performance at all events, couldn't ask for a better company to work with.
Thanks

The 2008 Cat Classic went off May 3rd, 2008 as it has for the past 6 years. I have attended the growing aggressive cross country race every year to see the event unfold. This year 2 weeks before the race my trusty 2006 Marin Mount Vision Pro came out of winter storage with both front fork and rear shock blown apparently from sub freezing temperatures. I had all but thrown in the towel when an idea came accross. I have in my possession a bright pink Marin Rift Zone that I had aquired over the winter as a test bed for the new quad suspension setup. A few things were deterring me to race the bike in that it was designed as an all mountain trail bike rather than a xc race bike. Friday night came and the decision was made. I was racing pink the following day. An hour later I had transferred my 120 mm stem, ritchey pedals, and race wheelset/tires from my XC racer. The pink beast had been transformed into a 5+ inch, 27 lb, trail monster. I went into the race the following morning taking teases and torment from all other racers, with the mindset that I was going to just ride the course just cause I love it so much. Not even a 1/2 mile into the course and I found the Active yet stable suspension had bosted me into the top 3 overall. This was it, what did I have to loose. I put down the hammer and took the lead of the 75+ competitors in my class and never looked back. Before long I had started to pick my way through the Pro class that had been sent out 4 minutes before our group (keep in mind they had to complete more laps than us so they were taking it a little easy). The course is a mix of extreme rock, ruts, roots and off camber, a downhiller such as mine's dream. The bike pedaled through whatever pointed at with no regrets. I was amazed at the level in which the suspension was not effecting braking or pedaling no matter how aggressive the terrain was. 1 hour 45 minutes later I had completed the 15 miles of racing in 1st place OVERALL.

As for thinkin

I think it's time to start thinking about a park/street bike. I would gladly help you design. Let's get it started.

Hey the new Pink Beast(Rift Zone) is going great, I have ridden a few training rides on it and have showed it around. The pink really attracts attention. The rear suspension is not as soft as the 06 MVPro but dang is it bottomless. Just to test it's boundaries I did a few 4 foot drops to flat (landed soft like a cat mind you) and only used up a little over half the travel. The relaxed geometry doesn't make it as "twitchy" on technical steep north east stuff as the 06 model. I think the new suspension works even better on the 5" travel than on my Quake 7.3. I think you have a winner on your hands with the new 07/08 suspension platform. I'll keep you informed with any progressions.

So, I think it's fair that I get to keep the bike for an extra three days for every place inside 10th I finished.

And so, because I won, I get to keep the bike for an extra month after the Otter, right? Sweet.

See? I'm a reasonable person.
