Attention TR Professionals!!

I have an opening in our 154 bed SNF (however it is 90% rehab) located in beautiful Boca Raton, FL. CTRS is not required however the candidate must be professional and be able to work in an extremely faced pace facility (~150 admissions and discharges a month).  TR is a major component of the facility thus we are seeking a dedicated professional who will maintain the efforts we have been successful at achieving!

If you are interested in applying please email me your resume and salary requirements (please be realistic and please do not apply if you are 'just looking for any job').  You can email me at adedic@whitehallboca.com

I look forward to hearing from you!

(Sorry this isn't personalized to every individual,
I'm sending this out to EVERYONE on the site)
While I'm in the process of doing some 'friend cleaning' see blog, I thought
it might be a good time to ask those of you who *want* to be here to
subscribe to my blog if you haven't already. Not at all necessary to
not being deleted, Just thought I might as well get it all done at
once, since the process is  going to take some time. It may also be a
good time for those who don't really support the PTSD cause and/or don't want to see pictures or
comments like this to just go ahead and delete, cuz I can't run this site afraid of
who I can send what comments to. I mean if you want to delete the
comment, but keep me/the site/the cause, that's fine. I just want it to be
abundantly clear, if it isn't already, this is and will remain an MJ
judgment/hate free site. You don't have to like him....just keep the
hate elsewhere. Thanks, I appreciate your understanding and patience
during this transitional time.

Hey Danny, can you help us spread the word about this, THANKS!

St. Petersburg Recreation Therapy Workshop
Bayfront Medical Center, St. Petersburg, FL
January 29-31, 2010

This workshop is a collaboration between the Bayfront Medical Center
and the city of St. Petersburg Recreation Department, Therapeutic
Recreation program. Given this is a collaboration between a medical
center and a municipality we are going with a theme of "Collaborations
and Transitions: Recreation Therapy across settings"

If you have suggestions for sessions or if you would like to submit a
session, please contact either of the conference co-chairs at the addresses listed below. Also we are
currently seeking a keynote speaker to present on the theme at a
general session to be held on Saturday, January 30. Given this is very
much a grassroots effort speaker compensation is limited. However, it
is a great excuse to visit Florida in the wintertime!

WAKE UP - STOP CHILD AB…

Apr 21, 2009 4:30 AM

Dear friend,

Photobucket

I cannot thank you enough for your kind support and friendship! Welcome to
our ever growing family of friends.
I'm really happy you have decided to
become friends of the Wake Up (to child abuse) MySpace Music page.
Just by
adding us to your friends you have already demonstrated that you have a good
heart and are willing to take a step towards ending the hidden suffering of
so many.

We also dare to hope you will be able to persuade some of your other MySpace
friends to join our just fight against child abuse by adding us to their
friends too.
The larger our family of friends becomes, the more people we
will be able to reach and educate about this terrible ‘disease’ sweeping
across the world which blights the lives of more children than you may
imagine.
Please take a moment to read some of the statistics on child abuse
highlighted on our profile and within our blogs.
I am sure you will be just
as shocked and appalled as we are when you find out the full extent of this
scourge.

The innocent children suffering such terrible abuse need all the help they
can get.
Increased awareness of this foul concealed crime will help to
prevent more children living through the agonising torment which I was
forced to experience.

I hope you have a great day and look forward to hearing from you soon with
your views and comments on this important issue,

Ralph

Recreational Therapists and Friends of Recreational Therapy:

Last week, the Provost at Florida International University announced that he intended to close the Recreation and Sport Management Program, in which the Recreational Therapy Program is a track. He stated that he wanted the faculty to graduate all of the students in one year. This announcement was made without warning and the faculty members were not given any chance to put forth an argument.

Clearly, hard decisions need to be made during difficult economic times; however, recreational therapy is too often considered unnecessary and easy to cut. This should trouble anyone who sees the value in preparing students to provide services to people with disabilities, illnesses or limitations. Too often those individuals who need and deserve our services are forgotten.

For those of you who work in the profession but live outside of Florida, you might be wondering how this affects you. Consider this--Florida International University is the last program in the state of Florida, a large state with a solid job market. As qualified recreational therapists grow scarce, jobs will close. As jobs close, the profession will struggle. What is to keep other institutions from following suit? This cycle could easily repeat itself in states throughout the country.

You should be concerned!

If you are interested in contacting administrators at FIU and voicing your thoughts on the importance of keeping the program open, please feel free to write me back and I will be happy to provide you with the contact information.

Thank you,
Alexis McKenney

I will be interning in the spring of 2010 (which will also be my final semester of my undergraduate career). (im looking at interning at a children's hospital or pediatrics ward).

President Obama,
My name is Craig Sears, and I am a Voice For Traumatic Brain Injury and a TBI Survivor advocate from Connecticut.

Brain injuries affect millions of Americans, young and old, male and female, and their families.
Thousands of our Iraq and Afganistan soliders are suffering brain injuries while on the front lines.
The most at risk however, are the millions of infants and children in this country.

According to the National Center on Shaken Baby Syndrome in Ogden, Utah, hundreds of children in this country
will suffer a severe or fatal head trauma as a result of child abuse this year.
These deaths and injuries are completely preventable.

I am joining in the support of one particular child's case, who's family members are trailblazing for new laws that will protect our children.
Sarah Jane Donohue who was shaken by her baby nurse when she was only five days old and suffers from Pediatric Traumatic Brain Injury - PTBI.
Her father, Patrick, is organizing a nationwide effort to spearhead comprehensive legislative action to help all of Americas' children form this horror.
I am appealing to you for your attention to this issue.

National Pediatric Acquired Brain Injuries (PABI) plan, has begun and Patrick wants to gain National support.

As part of the Obama-Biden health care intiative, I urge you to include provisions that support the Sarah Jane Brain Foundation

• (212) 201-0599
www. TheBrainProject. org

• Please read Sarah Janes' story and her father's plea @: www. myspace. com/sjbrainproject

I wish to help in any way I can, as she is "America's Sarah Jane", representing ALL of our children...the already injured to abuse, and the
still healthy children- not yet afflicted.
