Ani DiFranco & T Cooper in conversation

Sunday, November 18th @ 3PM Sharp!
$10 Admission
Ani DiFranco: A Conversation on "Verses"
A Benefit for Bluestockings Bookstore
(at Judson Memorial Church in New York City)

Come out to enjoy an engaging conversation between Ani DiFranco and author T Cooper about music, prose, resolve, solitude, politics and love. Advanced tickets are still available from HERE

A beloved and fiercely independent musician, Ani DiFranco has now reached into the literary world with book of poetry and paintings which captures her essential artistry. "Ani DiFranco: Verses" (Seven Stories) rages, eulogizes, menaces, revels and envisions. An outspoken voice of conscience over the last twenty years, Ani DiFranco's voice remains sharp and unflinching.

The doors for this event open at 2:30PM, and seating is general admission.
Judson Memorial Church is located at 55 Washington Square South in Greenwich Village.

Come out to support Bluestockings and enjoy this fantastic event.

Hi there!

Thanks for being a myspace-friend!

Are you interested in audiobooks?
I was wondering whether you had a minute to check out my shortstory “Sofia in the Sand”.
You can listen to the narrated text of the story on my profile. If you hate german accents ;) you should read the story in my blog, just a mouse click away...

The german version of “Sofia in the Sand” originated as the result of a writing competition of the travel section of the “taz” (a German daily newspaper) that appeared in the concurrent anthology of beach stories (“Strandgeschichten”) by Hans Schiler Publishers. Also on the literature portal “Titel-Magazin” as well as in “Footage – Magazin für Fußball und Popkultur” (a magazine for football and pop culture). What would one call something like this? Perhaps a mini audio book or an audio short story.
Cheers,
seb.

“So compassionate literature can be! A beautiful miniature story with a big final, clearly written. Light – and slightly melancholic.” (Editorial department of the “Titel-Magazin” about the german vesion of “Sofia in the sand")

Thank you for checking out my music and poetry. Blessings, Richard

I am pregnant and I am not embarassed, and I refuse
to defend myself before the disappointed.
My babies have not been fathered by the patriarchy,
but they are not bastards.
I am not busy in commerce-- I am not a landlord
or collector or provider,
but they will never be abandoned.

I am going to live in a forest where moss bathes my toes
and makes slippers for trees and pillows of stones;
I am going to deny concrete and its fumes;
I am going to swim every swell of my heart; for it is good
for my babies.
I am going to learn not to worry.
I am going to learn to listen to my fingers
and dismember every gate which does not allow the seeds
of wind and rain and light.

I am so pregnant I cannot see my feet, but my path
leads me.
When a poem comes through me, I embrace its vortex
and adore its apparitions and whisper
every word of its appendages
into song.

And when voices will no longer echo
from the bones of my back, sleep will make me a baby
in a belly again.
