Catch That Rockabilly F…sheree homer

Jun 7, 2009 5:40 PM

Catch That Rockabilly Fever by Sheree Homer is a candid account of life on the road and in the studio with '50s legends and today's talent. These are personal stories told by the artists themselves. It's a soft cover biography that will be published in October 2009 by McFarland Publishers and retail for $39.95. It will have never before seen photos (strictly 1950's photos of the legends) and rare stories from the artists themselves. Catch That Rockabilly Fever will be approximately 350 pages in length. It will be unlike any other rockabilly book on the market since it will include some of today's hottest young talent plus insightful stories from 1950's backing musicians and engineers for the first time, such as James Kirkland (Bob Luman, Ricky Nelson), Richie Frost (Ricky Nelson), Steve Handford (Bobby Lee Trammell), Tony Austin (Rock and Roll Trio), Stanley Walker (Ray Smith), Bobby Poe (Wanda Jackson), Vernon Sandusky (Big Al Downing) and Bob Sullivan (KWKH/Louisiana Hayride). Foreword by acclaimed writer Ken Burke.
These forty-six artists will have individual profiles and one glamorous photo per musician: Glen Glenn, Lew Williams, Art Adams, Elvis Presley, Ricky Nelson, Bob Luman, Ed Bruce, Dickey Lee, Jack Earls, Hayden Thompson, Maddox Brothers and Rose, Sonny Burgess, Carl Mann, Ray Smith, Johnny Powers, Larry Donn, Pat Cupp, Ronnie Hawkins, Bobby Lee Trammell, Huelyn Duvall, Gene Summers, Sonny West, Buddy Holly, The Collins Kids, Wanda Jackson, Charlie Gracie, Big Al Downing, Laura Lee Perkins, The Rock and Roll Trio, Narvel Felts, The Dave and Deke Combo, Kim Lenz, Go Cat Go, High Noon, Larry Cole, Cari Lee Merritt, Josie Kreuzer, Eddie Clendening, Suzy and Buddy Dughi, The Casey Sisters, Carl Sonny Leyland, Dawn Shipley, Sue Moreno, Ruby Ann, and Tex Rubinowitz.

we're not saying that there aren't important things to do in dayton TOMORROW NIGHT, september 4th - there are. we're just saying that in choosing things to do tomorrow night, we think you should chose to attend echos dayton in order to support local band black wolf fight and in order to help spread the word about cleveland's poetic dervish the world knows as fatal prose. besides, if you don't come all the right people in the city won't like you and then they won't make smart conversation with you at all the coolest places in dayton (of which there are two, maybe three, possibly one) and that would be such a dehumanizing way to live, wouldn't it? so honey, come out to echos. we are giving away life-sized posters of alfonso ribero. boomshakalaka - he's on fire.

in the interest of the public good and all other things altruistic and blah woo woo. please attend our next installment of echos dayton. the show features local indie soundscapers paego paego, the lyrical al green-isms of detroit's newest soulstress who the world knows as t. miller AND even more cool stuff such as performances from echos poets, interpretive dance, davey concepcion hitting fungos to anyone with moxie and more displays of various bliss. so, we'd be ever so pleased if you'd do us the honor of attending, even if you haven’t got a stitch to wear. tootles!

Hello Dayton,

As you probably know, we've been hiding lately. We are recording a new record however. As for plans to play out? Well . . . we talk about it and I'm sure we will. Probably out here in NYC before we go off to Canal Stree or Gilly's or something.

We're still around. We're just really slow.

I urge you to support Rev COOL on WYSO.

Peace,

Hello

This Saturday, March 17th, is Saint Patrick's Day, but it is also the anniversary of the day I had my stroke, so it's a good time for reflection. In remembrance, I want to share my recently finished memoir about the day I had my stroke. Since you were involved in a benefit event to raise money for my medical debt from my stroke, I'd like you to truly understand what it was like for me.

I would love for you to read it and comment. I am writing a book about my entire experience including recovery and beyond. Your comments and feedback will be instrumental in helping me write my book. Here's the direct link: my memoir

If you don't get to this before Saturday, it's never too late to send a word of encouragement. Thanks for taking the time to read this and I'd love to hear from you!

My most important blog entry EVER!

Please take a look at the memoir I've worked on for a long time. It's my first hand account of the day I had my horrible stroke. I'd love to get some feedback on this true story that took a lot of guts to put down and present to the public.
