The Fire Festival

Apr 21, 2007 5:31 PM

The skies of Bournemouth will be lighting up on Saturday May 12th with The Fire Festival taking place in Meyrick Park (12:30pm - 11pm) kick starting the summer festival season in style.

Main attractions at this 100% free event are top fire wielding performers from across the UK showing off their skills over three arenas sponsored by PoiPoi.co.uk, an impressive line-up of live music and a head bending visual arts zone inspired by fire.

Live music comes from rock n rollers Vincent Vincent & The Villains, psychedelic hillbillies The Mules, the one-man remixer of kids toys Kid Carpet, local heroes The Baker Brothers, 21st century barn dancers Cut A Shine, Ian Hale, Glitzy Bag Hags, Michael Wookey and Butcher Blues Foundation plus many more to be announced.

Other attractions include the irrepressible Fish Seeks Bicycle, Glastonbury's best sideshow The Laundrettas, licensed bar sponsored by Vuju Vodka Smoothies, a bio-diesel powered pinball arcade, an outdoor bandstand and top quality nosh from the World Food Village. Put on top of all that a wind turbine powered arts tent, circus performers, old-time funfair rides, market stalls aplenty and performance workshops from the fire teams then you've got more fun than you can shake a burning stick at!

Meyrick Park is a 4 minute walk from Bournemouth Square and will be signposted on the day.

There is no parking near or on-site; please use public transport or use public car parks in central Bournemouth.
