Hi! Just wanted to make sure all my friends know that my new erotic horror novel THE 13TH is now in stores everywhere! I hope you'll check out this debauched and demonic horror ride!

There's even a website devoted just to the book, with an interactive map of the places and characters at www.the13th-horror.com.

Edward Lee called THE 13TH "A double-barreled shotgun blast of macabre entertainment -- an expert amalgamation of grotesquerie, eroticism, mystery, and pitch-black occult horror that no fan of the genre can miss."

And Gary A. Braunbeck said, "John Everson's The 13th is the first out-and-out horror novel in a long while to actually scare the **** out of me while reading it. It's stylish, extremely well-written, filled with richly-drawn characterizations, and boasts a labyrinthine plot worthy of Umberto Eco. Trust me -- this one will fry your nerves and break your heart."

Blood Will Have Its Season

By Joseph S. Pulver, Sr.
Introduction by S. T. Joshi   Hippocampus Press 2009

The dark, forbidding alleys of ruined cityscapes; the hopeless lives of brutalized whores, amoral hit-men, and vengeful-victims of violence—these are the landscapes and characters that fill the stories, poems, and prose-poems of Joseph S. Pulver, Sr. in his first collection.

“The prose of Joe Pulver can take its place with that of the masters of our genre—Poe, Lovecraft, Campbell, Ligotti—while his imaginative reach is something uniquely his own.” –from S. T. Joshi’s Foreword

Is there such a condition as "techno-frustration"? If so I'm going through that with my new cell phone, which defies explanation. I think my new career will be rewriting "documentation" for all the gadgetory crap we add to our lives.

Christmas is a Time for Magic!!

I've stepped a little outside my normal "horror writer" persona this week :-) To celebrate the season, I've created a Holiday Madness page, with links to a free Christmas short fantasy story ("Christmas, The Hard Way"), a rock 'n' roll holiday song I wrote and recorded a few years ago ("Show Me Christmas"), holiday wallpaper for your computer and more. You can hear the song and follow the link from my MySpace page, or just click the banner below. Darkest Holidays to you!

BELL WITCH: THE MOVIE RELEASES SEPTEMBER, 2007
Burbank (CA) – Executives of Big River Pictures and Cinemarr Entertainment announced today that their first joint feature film, BELL WITCH: The Movie, will be released to home video via HD DVD, Blu-Ray and Internet on September 1, 2007.
The long awaited feature film from director S. Shane Marr starring Betsy Palmer (Mrs. Voorhees – Friday the 13th) was the first movie about the Bell Witch to be shot, with principal photography ending in November 2002. Marr, a High Definition purist, says the film’s release was held until HD viewing capabilities were more readily available to home viewers. “We shot BELL WITCH in 24p 1080 HD back in 2002,” Marr says, “but we decided to hold the film until it could be released in HD so that people could see it as it was meant to be viewed.” In keeping with the HD focus, the movie’s September 2005 premiere at the historic Ryman Auditorium in Nashville was shown using Sony’s new 4K High Definition Cinema Projector. It was the first time that projector had been used for a movie premiere. In keeping with Marr’s vision of a true High Definition release of BELL WITCH: The Movie, it will have an exclusive early release this summer on HD DVD and Blu-Ray prior to its wide release in both HD and Standard Definition in September.
BELL WITCH: The Movie retells the haunting legend of The Bell Witch of Adams, Tennessee, a historically documented haunting that took place in the early 1800s. For more information visit www.bellwitchthemovie.com

Writers @ Edit Red

Apr 23, 2007 3:18 PM

'City Smells' is a new literary project set up by the Edit Red Writing Community.

We are running three writing competitions, Flash Fiction, Creative Non-Fiction and Poetry, all with the theme 'City Smells. The winners of each of these competitions will win $100. But more than this, we will take the best work from each competition and compile a paperback 'City Smells' anthology. The writers who make it into the 'City Smells' anthology will each receive free copies of the book and be paid a royalty in book sales.

To submit to these competition and stand a chance of being published in the 'City Smells' book you must be a member of Edit Red, as the submission process is automated. Joining Edit Red and entering these competitions is 100% free. If you make it into the book, we will pay royalties based on book sales.

Edit Red has existed for many years and was created and is still managed today by non-fiction author Alan Emmins, creative writing teacher Chris Lee Ramsden and literary reviewer Sean Merrigan.

If you are not already a member, we hope you will join and take part in this great literary event. Sign up here for free!

BEST WISHES FROM THE LUNACY MACHINE

--I Have A Gift For You ... A Poem Taken From The Darkest Corner In The Back Of My Mind.
... The Story of ...
Shadow Word generated at Pimp-My-Profile.com

"Is there someone there? Is there someone there?
Come talk to us tonight.
We're asking for the dead to speak,
It's only us . . .my wife and me.
Come tell us how you died."

The oracle moved about the board
A figure-eight reply.
The oracle started slowing down, then stopped . . . above the 'Y'.

"Tell us more, tell us more, this spirit sailing free.
Tell us how you died tonight.
Tell us when you died tonight.
Tell us what brings you here tonight.
Keep spelling it for me."

The figure-eight continues and around the board it moves.
It's slowing down, it's slowing down.
"Come spirit, talk to me right now,
Tell us tonight, because we want to know . ."
Then the oracle stopped on the letter 'O'.

"You're coming in so very clear,
Now tell us why you're roaming here, on this dark and stormy night.
Speak to me, speak to me,
Travel through this board to me.
Tell us why you sleep tonight beneath your resting tomb.
Speak to me, speak to me, speak to me now."
Then the oracle stopped on the 'U'.

"Y-O-U, Y-O-U, this isn't making sense.
You spelled out, "YOU" is this what you meant to do?"
Then the oracle stopped on 'YES'.

My hands were sweating. My knees were shaking.
My wife had glanced up, hesitating
While I just sat there concentrating
Recalling what I knew.
This cannot be. This cannot be.
Then the oracle spelled out, 'S-U-E.'

Waiting For October is coming!

A lot of my MySpace friends have been wondering where I've been lately and sending me lots of nice comments...and a few worried ones! Rest assured I didn't fall off the earth for the past month -- I just lost my balance for a couple weeks :-) I've been burning the candle 'til midnights lately to design a new anthology for Dark Arts Books called Waiting For October, which finally went to press this week! It features 12 stories in all -- three twisted, funny, gory, creepy and amazing stories each by four authors -- Jeff Strand, Adam Pepper, Sarah Pinborough and Jeffrey Thomas. I've also just finished updating the Dark Arts Books website with the table of contents and ordering info for Waiting for October; I hope you'll take a look and consider checking out a copy of the book! There are some stories in this collection that will haunt you for days!

Extinction

Feb 7, 2007 3:43 PM

just a note to say Hi

My names Paul Mckenzie I am a new author and I have written a book

Extinction

In the ultimate battle of the sexes, the loser is mankind In the joyless, soulless world of 2150, love, sex and passion have been abandoned. In their place is hate; the ultimate war of the sexes, in which women have been all but wiped out. In short, these are the macabre consequences of genetic modification gone way too far: the bitter end of gender and the last days of love. As men reduce human reproduction to a battery farm churning out clones, each of whose fate is predetermined by the super state, the women of the FEMIST resistance fight for survival. They’re hopelessly outnumbered and outgunned. However, maybe, just maybe, their passion, subterfuge and above all humanity are all the power they need to redeem mankind. Read it with your heart in your mouth as a thriller or a chilling warning to mankind and pray it’s not a prophecy.

If you are interested in what the future may be then have a look it will be available from amazon in the near future or from me direct

if you want to know more please visit my page - I will send you some sample chapters - really hope you enjoy the read - and keep the vibe real on my space
