Wow so many memories. Remember When: Avenue Skates was next door. When panos was a telaphone booth. When buffalo had a great Hard core scene. The river rock cafe, pipe dragon, sky room. Remember when the Goos were barefoot and drunk Opening for S.N.F.U......Ahhhh, and Home of the hits was at the center of it all..So sad you are leaving...You will be greatly missed......Lockport Crew

I wanted a perfect ending. Now I've learned, the hard way, that some poems don't rhyme, and some stories don't have a clear beginning, middle, and end. Life is about not knowing, having to change, taking the moment and making the best of it, without knowing what's going to happen next. Delicious Ambiguity.

I just remembered looking through CDs in 1997 and hearing the new The Verve single (at the time), "Bittersweet Symphony". Back then you only had message board descriptions of songs and you heard them for the first time playing in the store.

Closing Home of the Hits really breaks my heart. I've spent tons of money over the years, on killer death metal and the such. It was always a treat to take the trip up and browse throught the store. And thanks to Slither, from way back when, for recommending all the great bands, back when the death metal scene was still new and fresh.
It'll never be the same without Home of the Hits! Jennifer, thanks for the years of commitment to all things underground. I wish I had the money to buy the store, to keep it alive... it'll be missed sorely!

Home of the Hits will be forever remembered by AITA (all three-fourths-east and one-fourth-west of us). We thank you(whole-heartedly) for all that you've done. From employing our bass player, to your long term dedication to expanding and supporting Buffalo's Independent Music Community. You will be missed.

Jennifer,
I have SO much to thank you for that I don't know where to begin. You and your store and the music that you got for me and turned me on to has been a very important part of my life. It is because of you and your store that I made 3 of my most important and loved friends (yourself, Bruce Moser and Mary (Martin) Moser). I used to take 2 buses on a Saturday just to buy the latest Clash, Jam and Costello singles that you would save for me (and to see your smiling face). Most guys start bands to get chicks, although that's a very good reason, the reason that I wanted to be in a band and to go on to help form The Hiwatts, was so that I could be part of the in-crowd at Play it Again Sam's/Home of the Hits. I enjoyed the short time that I was fortunate enough to work for you and can honestly say that you were the best boss that I ever had. You can hold your head high, you have brought so much love and joy to so many people!
Much Love,
Gary Z.

O Captain! my Captain! our fearful trip is done,

The ship has weather'd every rack, the prize we sought is won,
The port is near, the bells I hear, the people all exulting,

While follow eyes the steady keel, the vessel grim and daring;

    But O heart! heart! heart!

      O the bleeding drops of red,

      Where on the deck my Captain lies,

      Fallen cold and dead.

O Captain! my Captain! rise up and hear the bells;

Rise up--for you the flag is flung--for you the bugle trills,

For you bouquets and ribbon'd wreaths--for you the shores a-crowding,

For you they call, the swaying mass, their eager faces turning;

    Here Captain! dear father!

      This arm beneath your head!

      It is some dream that on the deck,

      You've fallen cold and dead.

My Captain does not answer, his lips are pale and still,

My father does not feel my arm, he has no pulse nor will,

The ship is anchor'd safe and sound, its voyage closed and done,

From fearful trip the victor ship comes in with object won;

    Exult O shores, and ring O bells!

      But I with mournful tread,

      Walk the deck my Captain lies,

      Fallen cold and dead.

I hate to see you go. I started my fanatical music buying life back in the 1970's when you were "Play It Again Sam" just off Main Street across from UB (buying bootle vinyl that you hid behind the counter in a box, which Scott would take and let me rummage through), then to your first location on Elmwood (where Scott would keep an eye out for rare vinyl I was seeking - like Live Yardbirds! - and save it for me when he saw a copy; where I would stop in every other day looking for the latest punk singles by the Clash, Elvis Costello, local Buffalo bands like the Jumpers, Enemies, Vores, and others; where I bumped into the Ramones where were shopping for records), then to your present location. I moved away from Buffalo in 1983, but still made it a habit to stop in on my annual visits back to Buffalo, taking my 15 year old punk rock son as well). You will be missed - you were a huge part of my youth and young adulthood.

Home of the hits closing... Its digital and online music, it will claim all of our favorite record stores as casualties before you know it. Man I feel like I'm loosing a part of my childhood and pillar of the Indie Rock .. Punk Rock .. Metal and Hardcore community here in Buffalo. This is a big blow to the local music scene... Say it ain't so... I've been a patron since I was 13 and now I'm 35... You will be missed!!!
