Survivors of Torture, I care very much about human rights and deeply empathise (for personal reasons) those who have endured gross torture.
May the Unconditional Love of God and Peace of His Holy Spirit be with us all is my daily prayer for all of humanity!

Thanks for your friendship!
Human rights is a pretty important and has a lot issues involving it- it gives living day to day a special meaning- some may take it for granted while others may not have a full understanding.

Stay safe!

Greetings, and thanks for the comment. I can't rightly say "why" I am into human rights. Ever since I was a small child, I was appalled at the mistreatment of other human beings. It is a strong passion of mine that all are treated with dignity, equally. As I have watched the abuses pile up over my lifetime, it has only served to make me MORE passionate.
Why? Need a new employee!??! Sign me up! Peace

Hello, how are you? Are you (i.e., the Survivors MySpace page person) one of the new VISTA interns? I was in the friendship circle. My 6 month commitment is long since over, but my friend and I still keep in contact! Anyway, to answer your question, I'm a San Diego attorney who does some work with human rights. It'd be great if Survivors continued the "Friendship circle circle" for the befrienders to meet and greet and hang out.

Why do I care about human rights ? Good question, I don't know ! I don't think some men have better ideas or are better than others . I think it's a question of psychoanalysis, a personal question.

Hello SURVIVORS glad to be your friend!

Among others i'm also a writer and i love writting satiric novels just because it makes people laugh... just because it makes them happy.
I hate to see people suffer and we are all equal brothers on this Earth which is full of injustice and discrimination.

Just hope things will get better.

Best regards,

The data on world hunger
1. About 24,000 people die every day from hunger or related causes to it. The data have improved compared to the 35,000 people of ten years ago or 41,000 twenty years ago. Three-quarters of deaths involving children under five years old.

2. Today, 10% of children living in developing countries die before they have completed five years. Again, the figure has improved compared to 28% fifty years ago.

3. Famine and wars cause only 10% of deaths from hunger, although these are the causes that I hear most often speak. Most hunger deaths are caused by chronic malnutrition. The families simply can not obtain sufficient food. This in turn is due to extreme poverty.

4. In addition to death, chronic malnutrition due weakening eyesight, a permanent state of fatigue that causes a low ability to concentrate and work hard to grow and extreme susceptibility to disease. The extremely malnourished people are unable to maintain even basic vital functions.

5. It is estimated that about 800 million people worldwide suffer from hunger and malnutrition, about 100 times the number of people who will actually die each year.

6. Often, the poorest require minimum resources to be able to grow sufficient edible products and become self-sufficient. These resources can be of good quality seeds, agricultural tools and appropriate access to water. Minimal improvements in farming techniques and systems for storing food bring more help.

7. Many "experts" in this field are convinced that the best way to alleviate world hunger and education. The educated people can more easily to leave the cycle of poverty that causes hunger.
