Luke Kennard
Laura Forman
Adam Green
The Ex-Men

At 26 Luke Kennard is the youngest ever nominee for the Forward Prize for Best Poetry Collection. He reads from The Harbour Beyond The Movie, his outstanding

second book. Lazy Gramophonite Adam Green reads from Satsuma Sun Mover, a surreal coming-of-age tale. Generation Txter Laura Forman performs poems about Bon

Jovi (yes!) and Battersea Power Station. Plus music and spoken word from Glasgow-based duo The Ex-Men. Doors 7pm, free entry. Produced in association with

Salt Publishing.

Thursday 20 September

Melanie Challenger
Eleanor Rees
Chris McCabe
Songdog

Salt poets Eleanor Rees (Andraste's Hair) and Melanie Challenger (Galatea) have both been nominated for this year's Forward Prize for Best First Collection.

Which is reason enough to come and hear them read. Like Eleanor, Chris McCabe is a Salt poet and a Liverpudlian. His collection The Hutton Inquiry is a

powerful examination of language under pressure. Musical refreshment is provided by the excellent Songdog, led by playwright Lyndon Morgan.

Colors of Life
By: Misty Lackey

Butterfly the heart.
Violet savor of sound.
Bright tangled warm
imitation's ghost.
Death trembles aches
of pain.
Glimmer more sun.
Yellow smiles flutter
green.
An old jewel of wonder
sick on the side jaw
queen.
Raining seedless
time bending flowers
cries for the earth's
buried coffin.
Hand's cradle the dead.
Voices serpent the
shadow's star.
Always laughter.
Always frames.
Pictures discover
heartaches and shame.
You're the sun
and the bone
shining alive,
shining dead.
You're below me
and above distant
scent of air
breathing shotgun
plugs killing
wings of dare.

The light a stairway
for life moving to
constant anger.
Clashing with the
knives.
Holding colors of
instant lust.
Crayon pencil
exiting letter's
silent bite.
Destroying every
soul black with
crushed oranges
and broken babies.
The womb's victim
to destroy the sin.
The devil vacation's
inside the moon,
he laughs we kill
his empty stomach and
burn the hell of
night.
Mother's mirrors
reflecting girl's
toes, boy's rocks.
Pale skin of life.
Hollow.
Aware that bones repeat
a scar from birth.

Winter's Thoughts
By: Misty Lackey

-Rest my soul I long to live to be 100.

-You can leave your footsteps like your death but your soul with always be lingering...

-Your left foot connects to your right foot.
Your soul connects to the heart.
Your eyes connects to the brain and you see....
The beauty of life standing still on a box of nails digging for rainbows we all want the pain because life is vain but happiness believes in itself.

- Our angel sleeps beneath our pillow and in our dreams she follows.
Our path she finds.
Our born soul is dust that's what she can see.
Too busy being born crying cause life is torn.
Life is like a walk to town and gone like a traffic light colors a blur.

-Half mirror. Half light. Our soul gazing through the marks of yesterday. Wrinkles a brush through the fire.

- Time wasted today. Worries afraid to free the mind because the world sticks like butter on a closing mind of sorrow. When the buter melts the mind is free then the devil holds the stick in the fire.

-Where would I be without a soul?
I would be empty inside a bed of
nails for the angel's teeth.

-Swallow hmmm your wings are good
inside the pillow she weeps.
Sad angel a cold tear for the year.

FOURTEEN SHOWS, SIX POETS, ONE VAN…
… YES, IT’S GENERATION TXT

Following the success of acclaimed new poetry anthology Generation Txt, penned in the margins is taking the six gifted young poets featured in the book on a national tour to fourteen venues. Hand-picked from a nationwide search for writing talent, the poets include former Northern Young Writer of the Year Emma McGordon and celebrated performance poet Inua Ellams, as well as Joe Dunthorne, whose debut novel Submarine has just been snapped up by Hamish Hamilton. Natural Sciences graduate Laura Forman, creative writing student Abigail Oborne and experimental poet and text artist James Wilkes complete the bill.

Hailed by distinguished poet and critic Roddy Lumsden as 'a vital cross-section of the poetry that will progress and flourish' and by the TES as 'a creative ideas manual', the Generation Txt tour will be a must-see event for anyone interested in the future of literature.

A poem for your day:
.
.
Rest In All Love Is
------------------
I love you like this...
dark, i can barely see your eyes...
so dark my eyes are useless. My
heart opens wide its light on you
and your face brightens like the
static on a TV screen, or like the moment
we die and things begin to go all white
and
then
you're an angel laying before me...
the same one that has been there all along,
the one my eyes turned into something else and I
am ashamed I was deceived.
Then,
I see you, I see you like the energy that flows through my limbs,
now, like the breath that takes the universe and
gently creates another, now, like my feet walking
on glass, now, like I was never there.

I love you like I was never there. So gently, never there. In the dark
where I can barely see, and, rest in all that love is.

Thanks for the digital invitation, I hope all's well. I wonder, do you know of any poets with published books? Would you have interest in signing up for my online contests and contact list?

Here's a poem to renewed and new invitee's:

Bounce This

Wake up old friend
Wake up I say, hear me
I've got something to say
Will you come play
Say screw your work day?

I found the greatest thing in the world today
Half buried in frozen dirt outside
A discarded gem

Will you come and play
Say frig work today?

Follow me into the hall
Ladies and gents
Leave your guns behind
Leave your suits in the closet
Leave your sharp heels on the floor

Follow me into the hall
Check this out
I found a giant rubber
Bouncing ball!

Do you remember the bouncing ball?

Come on man, tell the boss off
Come on ladies, your man's got ESPN
Come with me into the hall
Come throw the bouncy ball against the wall!

Put your taxes into the bouncy ball
Smash it against the wall.

As it comes back, hand it to the next woman or man
Let them throw the ball, that flat tire
against the wall.

Come out of your rooms
Let's share common ground

Throw the ball
Smash your

Hidden tears
Buried fears
Of loans and bills
Family woes
Poison foods
The hater's gaze

Let's see who can get the ball to bounce back hardest!
Sure, we will get hit in the face
The chest ass and other balls

But let's throw the rubber ball back
Throw until it shatters
Let's shout in destructive, uncensored joy
Then ship the remains back over seas

Now one more time
Take your burdens
Burn them on a cheap CD

This is gonna be fun
Monumental
Do you remember the CD
artistic trick?

Toss your baggage burned CD
In the microwave a few seconds
Just a few not too long

Now let's take turns

Throw those CDs,
Radiated performance art!
Let's grin and shout jump in glee
As one after another

k-tash! Crckash!

Welcome To The Family. Real recognizes Real. It's in our nature to draw to close to what is familiar. Yet we strive to be defiant and break through this mis conceptualized media. That glorifies junk, as music! Please check out our movement to revive music to it's natural element. When music was about expression of the soul. Not hooks and gimmicks, scheming to make money. There is no art in the music on heavy rotation. Poetry Over Music promotes the Real artists, the Real music, and Real talent.

My Friend

I look at you my Friend and I see a child at play
frolicking in muddy streams, splashing rivers into
oceans and carrying each molecule gently
to the sky for another round like a child handing water to his Father
for the first time.

You are neither boastful nor meek.
You are not shy nor are you seeking attention
There is simply abundance and grace with you my Friend
and you ask nothing of me...save I am my self...fully...always... and
you ask without asking...lead without
leading...cause...effortlessly.

My Friend, it is simple with You.
