Cinco de Mayo (Spanish for "fifth of May") is a regional holiday in Mexico, primarily celebrated in the state of Puebla, with some limited recognition in other parts of Mexico.
While outnumbered, the Mexicans defeated a much better-equipped French army at the Battle of Puebla on May 5, 1862. Cinco de Mayo is not "an obligatory federal holiday" in Mexico, but rather a holiday that can be observed voluntarily.
While Cinco de Mayo has limited significance nationwide in Mexico, the date is observed in the United States and other locations around the world as a celebration of Mexican heritage and pride. It is a great reminder that although we all face insurmountable odds, at times in life, overcoming them is more than possible. With resolution comes a true surface. There is nothing sanitized or predictable here. You guys have chops and are obviously prolific. It’s hard to be original these days but to be that and produce the kind of sound that deserves germination takes fortitude. At first listen I was not sure what to think. Your music grows on a person’s pallet quickly, though. I was already aware of Elliot’s lyrical talent but this stuff ain’t sweet candy goodness…lol. “One Down” should be on this page because it is tenacious and, fits well with your direction. I apologize for blurting out pretentious shit I have no real business with. Great stuff! When I can come back to music that I may have originally been confused about and enjoy it more and more as time goes by, well I think of a glass onion.
