>>> Elite Barbarian - In The Mix - 7:30pm [GMT] <<<
http://electronicexplorations. org
Also on the show, beats from:
Vladislav Delay (Andy Stott Remix), Shed, Deaf Center, Mount Kimbie, Starkey, Wahn, Neil Landstrumm, 65D Mavericks, Ebola, Shackleton, King Cannibal, Martyn and Marcus Intalex, DJ Madd & Ben Frost
-------------
Elite Barbarian is the solo work of Benjamin Page and It's only when you get to the end that it all makes sense is his new album. Moving between static moods and beat-waves, from reflective abstraction to moments of searing intensity, this record is the result of improvisations using hardware synths and samplers.
Ben is one half of Rocket Number 9 with his brother Tom and their innovative improvised sets have been making an impact on the London scene since they formed in March 2006. He is also a member of Rothko, who have recently released a new album "A Life Lived Elsewhere" on Mark Beazley’s Trace Recordings label. Ben previously released a solo album "Drawn to Light", recorded as Maps of the Heart, on Unlabel in January 2006.
It's only when you get to the end that it all makes sense is the first release of Front and Follow, an emerging Manchester based record label all about new, exciting music, released in limited editions with packaging by the wonderful people at Pika Pika. They aim to release records that are special, lovingly made and not a) cheap and crappy or b) expensive and elitist. This record is also available for download from your favourite online stores like itunes.
It’s only when you get to the end that it all makes sense’ is released on Monday 1st September 2008.

Rothko : eleven stages of intervention [bleep 36]
Following releases on such visionary labels as Lo Recordings, Simon Raymonde’s Bella Union, Too Pure and Kraak, Bip_Hop is pleased to welcome the release of Rothko's new album. Mark Beazley (bass), Michael Donnelly (bass), Ben Page (keyboards/percussion) and Tom Page (drums) continue to create a warm and inviting sound, where solitary keyboard melodies transition from exploratory passages and fragile beauty intertwines effortlessly through somber basslines. The music of Rothko at equal turns challenges and comforts the listener. At first perhaps confrontational, yet ultimately nurturing, the band's eleventh fulllength release -- adds to Rothko's already innovative and impressive catalogue.
"It’s like a more melancholy, more muted Godspeed You! Black Emperor, without the hint of post-rock cliché, or at times even like Southern Lord’s slow rockers Earth without the metallic subtext – this is cinematic and evocative music in the best possible way... Quite hauntingly beautiful… recommended!" BOOMKAT / UK
