Handsome Dan and His Ga…	Mar 26, 2009 5:25 PM you got it. british folklore suggested that nightmares were caused by a hag or witch sitting on a persons chest while they sleep, casting evil thoughts into their mind and when the sleeper woke, they would not be be able to move or breathe as a result. they would be "hagridden." so yes we now know it as sleep paralysis. my sister told me about going through it once. and i think your the first person to get that. nice.
