It's also a question of binary states of existence.
Basically, everyone in comedy who knows you has only known you as a comedian. The Alex Grubard at age seven breaking a window with a baseball doesn't exist outside of a backstory written by yourself at an earlier point.

So you were sort of born as a grown-ass man who has sex with a lot of women real hard.

That last part was for me.
Mike Drucker

Apr 17, 2008 3:05 PM

Some thoughts:

A Non-Player Character (NPC) is a video game or board game character that no player controls. Since they have no real interactive use, they're basically programmed for interaction with the character. So their entire purpose is to give the character information or get in their way.

Also, some computer rendering programs - if I remember correctly - only render the images on screen at the moment. So images not on the screen at the moment you're viewing them technically do not exist outside of some basic statistical computations.

There's also a sort of post-modern discussion on gods in which their power is directly proportional to the amount of people who believe in them. The fewer people who know of them and fear them, the less they exist. You could extend that to yourself.
