The Youth Channels Halloween Film Screening on October 28th is an event in which involves Scary Horror films made by youth and targeted towards youth from all over NYC.

This event is sure to be a cool way to start your Halloween. Eat free food, watch cool bloody videos made By Youth. There will be a special effects workshop conducted by professional Costume and Make up designer Chelsea Manifold. She will teach you all the cool and in expensive ways to trick and treat your friends.

This is an open event, so bring your friends to MNN Tv Studios. If you have cool scary films/videos you'd like to submit for the screening email us as well. This screening is sure to provide you with Great tips on how to dress-up before Halloween comes. Come and learn how you can make your own costumes and do your own makeup for that scary day,

Greetings From The Youth Channel: Youth Voice 2009 (Open Call For Youth)
 

We are doing a live broadcast called "Youth Voice 2009". On this show there will be a panel of young people discussing why it's important for young people to vote. We are looking for young people in your organization/school that would be interested in participating on this panel. This show is a great way to have your voice heard by other young people in all over.

Youth Channel Interns receive training in using a digital video camera, learn field shooting, digital editing, media literacy, and receive basic television studio training.

All interns may also be given school or college credit. Interns are also offered the opportunity and encouraged to continue their involvement with the Youth Channel even after their Internship! All candidates should complete the Internship Application Form and bring it to our open house, along with a resume and letter of interest to the Youth Channel.

I am writing on behalf of the Youth Channel, a division of Manhattan Neighborhood Network (MNN) targeting youth under 25. The Youth Channel was established in March 2000 with the mission of providing disadvantaged, low-income and minority youth access to quality media forum through which to express creativity and foster dialogue.

The Youth Channel will be having a film screening highlighting the outcomes of our community collaborations from our long and short term trainings/workshops with other youth based organizations. The film screening will be on Thursday December 4th, 2008. The Youth Channel film screening will begin at 6pm and last until 9pm.

I am borrowing (and editing) the words of a dear friend Sue Cline to tell you about the new movie Tropic Thunder. You can check out her blog on the link below.


I don't often ask this of people, but I'm asking now: would you please consider boycotting this movie and spreading the word about it?

In the movie, that three actors are brought together to make a movie about the Vietnam War. These three actors are played by Robert Downey Jr, Ben Stiller (who wrote and directed) and Jack Black. Stiller's character is an actor who is reaching for parts that might gain him respect, and he plays a role specifically designed to get him an Oscar nomination: a man who is intellectually disabled. This movie is called Simple Jack.


Not appearing in Tropic Thunder but appearing on the promotional website (until recently) was a poster for Simple Jack. Its tagline: Once upon a time...there was a retard. This promotional website has been taken down because of protests from disability advocacy groups.


In the movie, and not being cut from it, Stiller has written a line about someone "going full retard." Shirts are being made with the words "Full Retard" on them. The thought of it makes me ill.


Advocacy groups around the country are staging protests of the movie, which opens tomorrow.

I am moving to LA right after New Years - I'll be on the West Coast and changing the attitudes, stereotypes and discrimination of those with a disability and getting the fair, equal and authentic REPRESENTATION in Hollywood in '08! Good luck with all you're endeavors in '08 and I look forward to meeting sometime in the new year - either if I get to the East or you get to the West - let's cover the entire motion picture industry!

there are just 20 days left to enter onedotzero and MTV’s Bloom competition to find the best up-and-coming moving image talent from around the world. onedotzero and MTV will commission a series of innovative one-minute-films to be shown around the world via the MTV network and onedotzero events.

to enter send a written treatment for a one-minute-film that explores identity, local environment and community

we are looking for impressive responses, both in terms of mood and emotion and in terms of technique and exploring new angles that challenge conventional perception. the techniques used in the film treatment are completely open and could include animation such as stop frame, cell and digital techniques as well as motion graphics, 3d, photography, film, and video

submissions should be sent in the form of a written treatment, accompanied by at least one of the following: mood boards with visual references, storyboards, test films, animatic.

I am a huge disability rights campaigner, and share some of the interests you have, I like Sixth happiness, Born freak, and Every time you look at me. I also am always on the Ouch website too, and my claim to fame is (and you'll get jealous here!) is that I met Mat Fraser in real life at the Ouch podcast recording and I got a hug from him,that meant a lot for giving him a Christmas card and Liz is a good friend too to me!
