Hey ya'll-

I FINALLY have info on this semesters Disney College Program Presentation info. Our presentation will be on Monday October 20th (two weeks) at 11am in the Orchard Suite on the 2nd floor of the Student Union. This presentation is an E-Presentation only and phone interviews will need to be set up. However San Francisco State University will be having a presentation Thursday Oct. 16th (next week) with a recruiter present for one-on-one interviews. There are two presentation times: 11am in the Caesar Chavez Student Center, Rosa Parks A-C and 6pm in the Towers Conference Center.

If ya'll have any questions let me know. I am a new Campus Representative for the Program so hopefully I can answer all your questions.

Hope to see you on October 20th.

Hey all,

Jen Piatt wanted me to spread the word that Good Day Sacramento will be doing a live shot tomorrow, on campus. They will be promoting the Disability Awareness - Recreation without Barriers event. I don't know much else about it, but she wants as many RPTA students to be in the live shot, so we can promote our major as well.

If you want to go, you should meet the Good Day Sacramento crew on the bike trail between Faculty/Staff Lot 2 and the Guy West Bridge at 8:00 am, with the live action shot and interview of Alejandro Albor to occur at 8:30 am. The media truck will park in Faculty/Staff Lot 2.

Spread the word.

Great fun activity - the Oakland Athletics are having discount ticket sales for their new "All You Can Eat Seats". At the April 5, April 18, and April 22 games you can purchase seats online for a discounted rate of $20 and sit in the sections with all you can eat hot dogs, nachos, peanuts, pop corn, soda, and ice-cream. Go online at oaklandathletics. com and use code EATS for seats in sections 316-318 on those dates! Great group event!

The CSU Board of Trustees approved another pay raise for its top Executives—let's stop them from doing it again. Hold the CSU Board of Trustees accountable to the public and the state legislature by supporting Assembly Bill 1413!

Last week, the CSU Board of Trustees approved an 11.8% executive pay raise for 28 executives at the same time student fees are being hiked an additional 10% ( http://youtube.com/watch?v=VBwTd8Zrs6U). The Board has stated that it plans for a 40% pay increase over the next four years for CSU executives, a move that has faculty, students, and the Legislature outraged.

This salary hike comes after media reports published last year revealed that the Board was handing out six-figure "consulting" gigs to executives who were doing no work for the University and "transition" pay for executives who were no longer working for the CSU – and some who had already taken new jobs.

It is because of actions like these that Assembly Bill 1413 was recently passed in the state legislature. Assembly Bill 1413 will put in place strict guidelines on the CSU Board of Trustees to ensure state resources are not wasted on lavish executive salaries and perks. AB 1413 will do the following things:

Improve accountability and oversight of the CSU administration and Board of Trustees by placing restrictions on executive compensation payments, ensuring that executive contracts are made public

Allow ex officio members of the CSU Board of Trustees (such as the Governor, Lt. Governor, Superintendent of Public Instruction and Assembly Speaker) who are unable to attend Trustee meetings to designate a staff representative to attend their meetings and hold the Trustees accountable

Take a minute and let the Governor know that you support this bill and send a fax via the internet by going here: http://capwiz.com/calfac/state/main/?state=CA

The Governor has until October 12 to make a decision on whether he will pa

Need business cards? Companies like VistaPrint will give you 250 business cards for free. VistaPrint puts their logo on the back of the cards, which isn't the worst thing in the world, but considering that you didn't pay for the cards, it's not a bad deal. To put it another way, it's a lot better than having no business cards at all. Before you get cards printed, also make sure you have an appropriate sounding email address. "Cutecheeks@hotmail.com" may be how you think of yourself, and great to use with your friends, but it will lose you points when applying for jobs. Not only is it inappropriate, but you want people to remember your name - email has become a most basic method of marketing yourself. Yahoo, Gmail and Hotmail all let you sign up for free email addresses, so if you don't already have one, make one before you start applying for internships and/or jobs. (And I know you hear about making résumés in other courses, but just to remind you, the Career Center here on campus has people who will help you create professional résumés and cover letters. That's their job - and they like doing it!)
