Oh, mysterious Iron Rail. I like how your comment on my blog was actually a plug to rep you at Santa Cruz. Of course I would any day. Even though I told Long Haul I wouldn't and I have been staffing there longer than I did at the Iron Rail. Who cares? I'm going to gather up my notes from that and send them along soon if you're interested.

GUDGUD Magazine

May 23, 2007 6:15 AM

Just wanted to let you (and your comment-reading friends) know that GUD Issue 1 is now available for purchase!

Issue 1 comes to life with Darby Larson's "Electroencephalography" where an experiment in robot-building goes terribly awry. And if you've ever woken up with an unexpected physical deformity—say, an arrow in your heart—you'll truly enjoy the next story. There's also a smattering of flash fiction and psychedelia; a straight-out story where things aren't what they seem, poetry that takes you from the perverse to the sublime, some magic realism, science fiction, and a few letters to another species thrown in for good measure. We haven't forgotten those of you with a literary bent. In addition, the artwork in this issue is particularly strong, with oil paintings, watercolors, photography, and photo illustrations complementing the words with which they are paired.

Thanks for being a friend!

a letter to social justice activists
by Joanna Dubinsky

2007
28 pages including photos

This short pamphlet in "zine" format concisely outlines why anyone
interested in social justice should not forget about New Orleans. It offers
practical suggestions useful to activists in easily digestible format.

"This struggle is continuing to manifest and define itself in the
face of onslaught on every front. Despite the urgency of the
struggle, we need to recognize that it will need to go on for
years, not months."
