Hey friends,

Some unknown prankster posted a clip of me singing with Johnny Dowd on Youtube.   We're covering Johnny's song Murder!   For my part I should say it's an honor and a privelege to sing one of Americana's best songwriters seminal songs..

Due to the general confusion about my past, whether or not I did many of the things that have been attributed to me I figured I'd clear the air: No I was never a preacher, no my father was not a preacher, no I was never a boxer.  Yes I built roads in the South, yes I was a starry-eyed waiting-for-the-rapture Jesus Freak for ten or more years, yes I was a pro surfer, yes I was a fashion model in Europe and appeared in Vogue, etc,, yes I was a cab driver in New York for more than ten years, yes I graduated from NYU film school.  No I never punched out Ellen Degeneres, although I had the chance, no I never punched out Bianca Jagger, although I had the chance and should have, yes I once got punched out on the Brooklyn Bridge by a punk who sounded like Mike Tyson, yes I once joked around with Samuel Beckett in Thompkins Square Park, yes I was "discovered" by Madonna's wonderful sister Melanie, Yes I once had Allen Ginsburg, John Sayles, Howard Cosell, John Malchovitch, Kevin Kline and Woody Allen as passengers in my cab.  There's an enormity of details to the various stories which I can;t go into here, but those are a few of the major points of discussion.  The nuances of these claims will be addressed in a book of short stories I'm presently working on.  I've added a few photos to the photo gallery to add some credence to my wild eyed claims.  If I'm lying I'm flying!

Your comment about MJ was not cold. It was an unselfish reality that most people don't realize. Your right, we should celebrate his death. He is free from the prison if HIS mind.

Ya know.....your only in Athens.....seeing you live shouldn't be that hard being that i am in Atlanta. Glad your back from Europe! That will make it much easier for me to find you playing your wonderful music somewhere.

Jim White here.

I'm just back from Dublin, Ireland where I hung an exhibition of my weird art in the Douglas Hyde Gallery at Trinity College. I also did a musical performance in the gallery last Friday night and afterwards, as part of my "Shirt Off My Back" charity campaign, I held an auction of my old clothes. To my great surprise, although I brought only 3 articles of vintage clothing to sell, I raised $150 for Doctors Without Borders. Thanks to the incredible generosity of those Irish bidders. At this point in the economic decline noble endeavors like DWB are probably suffering, so contributions are urgently needed and much appreciated by me, the charity, and most importantly the individuals in dire need of medical care.

Jim White here.

Since everybody and their brother has decided to chime in on the demise of the "King of Pop" and I'm not hearing what I feel are salient thoughts regarding his passing, I feel compelled to throw in my two cents worth.

Anyone with eyes in their head could see the misery that that poor creature was in as the train wreck of his life progressed, or rather degressed.

There has seldom been a human being more trapped in the prison of themselves than Michael Jackson was in his persona. He'd painted himself into a corner so horrific, so isolated and so impotent that it boggles the mind.

What was particularly troubling about his situation was that he was paralyzed by the Frankenstein monster he had so conspicuously designed himself to be.

And so while many are mourning his passing, I wonder if instead we shouldn't be celebrating his liberation. This may sound cold, but in fact it's a sympathetic statement. At the very least, he's free from the seething swarm of suffocating tentacles that reduced him to the sad pathetic shell of a human being that he was for many many years now.

Somewhere in this world as I write this there's a white glove and surgical mask that have no purpose any more, and that's triumphant news for the luminous spirit that was trapped inside the facade known as Michael Jackson.

My condolences to his family and loved ones. The death of a beloved family member is always one of life's most challenging ordeals. Although he's gone, I hope that they can take comfort in the fact that he's no longer imprisoned, no longer alone, no longer waiting for the next assault on the citadel of self.

If there is some kind of world beyond this world and what was essential in Michael Jackson has gone on there, can we simply close our eyes and mutually agree, as if praying, that that spirit is unbound and that Micahel Jackson, as we knew him, is finally free.
