Ha ha! You gotta love it! Got my own "death of" out there. :-)
Seriously, though... there IS a problem here.
In case you're new to MySpace Marketing, the "good 'ol days" have passed. Back in the day, you could take a friend adder, load up a thousand profiles to be added to your friends... and let 'er rip. Come back an hour or two later and you're profile had gone for 0 to 1,000 FAST. Very powerful!
But, MySpace got smart...
Tom and the folks at MySpace added in a CAPTCHA system that required you to enter numbers and letters from an image... something your bot couldn't do. And, this CAPTCHA would come up every 40-50 friend adds. So, now you had to sit at your computer and "wait" for the CAPTCHA to come up and enter it to be able to move on adding friends. What a drag!
Then, the bots fired back...
The creators of the friend add bots added in a CAPTCHA bypass... so the bot would skip any page that required the CAPTCHA to be entered. Nice! Now, we were back to the good old days... load up your bot and let 'er rip!
But, it didn't last long...
The guys and gals at MySpace caught on and put the CAPTCHA bypass to an end. Now, if you failed to enter the CAPTCHA you were presented with... you got another one. And, if your bot skipped CAPTCHA's, it would skip ALL of them. Meaning, you'd plow through 1,000 profile id's but NONE of them would be sent friend requests... because they all got skipped.
Today, not only is the CAPTCHA system effectively keeping the bots at bay... but, MySpace is now logging IP addresses. So, if you add 1,000 friends in a day, MySpace will find you and DELETE you!
Which effectively means... friend add bots are DEAD!
Or, are they?
