i have this hs thing and as the people who has it know it is very painful and it sucks. i found a good doctor here in florid where i live and i have surgery on both my are pits a few months ago. i caught an infection about a week after the first surgery and had to have 4 more after that . it was a very painful 2 months' but the pain i felt from that plus the pain i felt before the the surgery does not even start to compare with the comfort i feel now. i would do it 10 time over if i have to, to feel no pain and be able to enjoy life again. next month i am going under again to get below the waist done' not looking forward to it but it will be well worth it. everyone keep your heads up. do the surgery. it is well worth it. p.s if u are over weight lose it and if u smoke quite until after your surgery( unless it's pot no tobacco at all included raps )

My husband is now in the hospital for another surgery. He just had one a month ago and it opened up with infection. Please keep him in your prayers. I know he will be ok . I thank everyone that post their comments on this wonderful myspace page. Now I know he is not going through this alone and it shows you all are fighters and will not let HS win.
Thank you and good luck to all of you.

this may sound strange, but over the years i have found out certain foods really aggravate hs; such as oils/fats which are solid at room temps, hydrolyzed/hydrogenated soybean oil, nuts, highly processed white breads, caffeine, coffee, cheese, real 1/2 and 1/2 creamer, ice cream, pizza, one of the worst is frostings. when i eat these foods or any foods in this type of grouping, i have to flush my body for days and days with water to chase out the fats so they will not adhere or deposit themselves and then come out through my very sore hs ducts...and those fats do seem to do just that. i have had hs since i was in my early 20's and many doctors with no diagnosis. finally properly diagnosed last year at 36 while i was a few months pregnant.

My Husband has just been admitted to St Joseph's hospital in Lexington, KY for his HS nothing seems to be helping his wounds/sores/boils he has been on heavy doses of meds including I.V. for over three months & is the same if not worse. His Dr has recommended that he have surgery, praying that he can have some relief & a better quality of life, instead of constant drainage, pain & suffering. Thanks for listening, God Bless

I found out I have HS this march I have my first surgery this monday. I was given 2 choices either take out strips from under my arms one by one as they heal or one big patch and I would have to have a wound vac. Just curious to know if one heals better then the other? Also I just started taking Zinic, probotics also was told to try tumeric but read that it could be a blood thinner didn't know if I should take that while starting surgeries? Thanks

My husband had his 6th surgery today and it went well but we found out the Hidradenitis has spread to another part of his body.
I just wish sometimes I could share his pain.

i just had a surgery today last year had ex cession on my right armpit. . . . today was my thighs. . . .but i came away from this surgery very upset and unsatisfied. i am hoping to get some emails from people on here regarding the situation. on both thighs combined just the inside thighs i have well over a hundred spots. Today i went in expecting all the affected tissue and spots to be removed as this seems to be the only way noted to successfully help control the outbreaks. . . yet i wake up and find the surgeon has removed only 7 of the spots . . . yes just seven. . . . this seems pointless and has really upset me. . . . i am looking for some thoughts and input. . . please help and email with feedback as i am almost in tears.
Lord give me strength..…

I just had my 4th surgery for this in the groin and buttocks area...and it seems that there are some people out there that really don't understand how painful this is....I wish they would conduct more studies and even find some solid therapy or successful treatment options. Bless you for this site, at least I know there are over 300 people that know what I am going thru.

i'm 16, i'm currently going through surgeries in brenners children hospital in NC for my HS,
my surgeon just done my breast and left under arm 3 weeks ago, it's a tough recovery, i'd like to ask for prayer and comfort from others, this gets so scary sometimes.
i have a few more surgeries to go through, next he's doing my right under arm.
then after that recovery, below my waist and thighs and stuff.. idk how many surgeries that will be.
this first surgery has seemed to be helping so far, he removed all the infection and skin ..
i did tear underneath my breast, so he'll have to do a skin graft there when i'm healed.
this surgery is amazing, i hope and pray it works.

I have suffered from HS since for 16 years now, every since puberty. I have done it all...the antibiotics, the special creams, the powders..you name it...Well I am currently under the care of a wonderful doctor (plastic surgeon actually) and he has me on this regimen that has worked for me now for six months. First of all I wash my body with Hibiclense (can be bought over the counter at almost any Walmart or CVS) during every shower...I then cover my areas with Zeasorb powder (again at any Walmart or CVS) powder to prevent sweating...I take 500 mg of Ciprofloxacin (antibiotic) everday. If I have a flare up I use a topical Clindamycin (antibiotic) or if I am out of that I use the Neosporin with the pain reliever in it all over it and cover it with gauze and some gauze tape that won't irritate the skin. I repeat this everyday until the flare up busts or goes away. I wear loose fitting clothes and try to avoid sweating as much as possible...I also quit smoking and lost 50 lbs and this has made a world of difference...I feel better than I have in years...I know most of you are probably like me and have tried EVERYTHING but this combination of things have helped so very much.

Thanks so much for adding me..... I hope u get well soon!! I'm in so much pain today I've been trying to figure out how to relieve the pain, I'm tired of taking pain meds(narcotics) that get old after a while. I need to have a second surgery but I'm just tired of going under the knife, but sometimes that's the only thing that really helps. It's so hard for me to walk somtimes but I still push myself to get up and go to work, but most of the time I have to miss work alot I can't hold down a stable job cause I'm always in pain. Thanks so much for listening. I hope someone can come up with a cure 1 day.

Glad to see some activity from you. I am 36 and have had HS since puberty pretty much. I have 2 daughters that so far are unaffected but they are 11 and 9 so we'll see how puberty goes for them. Hang in there everyone, there are good men/women out there that look past the skin you're in. And I agree, I definitely support Medical Marijuana, thats the only way I get anything done because it helps dull the pain. Feel free to hit me up with any questions or comments.

Getting ready to have what I
believe is my fifth surgery to
remove more lumps next week. My
new surgeon said that I am in the
last stage of HS and that I will
most likely need repeated surgery
until I am in my 50's.
Thoughts and best wishes to all HS
sufferers!

Hi,I went to the doctor yesterday. He wants to do surgery undr my arm and have a plastic surgeon do a flap....which I understand is when they take muscle from the back to rebuild the arm. Has anyone had this done? I am not really sure what to expect.

There is a stream of well-being that is always available to us. All we have to do is allow it. Letting go of the resistance that is holding us back from the things we truly desire allows us to flow freely downstream. Once you are caught up in this current, you will start to feel an overwhelming sense of joy and all the things that you have been asking for through your thoughts will start to manifest. Life was meant to be joyful!
I wish you joy, laughter, and happiness!
