Make sure you view the book preview because I am not your typical poet. I speak from the heart, I say what I mean, and I don’t care too much if anyone gets offended by my work. If music is what we master
How come we aint free?
How come we do not own
the rights to our unique melodies
those huge corporate companies seize
what they please leaving us the nickels and pennies while they get the gold
Are we still being bought and sold
If music is what we master
How come we don't run free
with a melody maker
or a rump shaker
that ought’a take her
out of her misery
Play those blues for miles
on the trane to holiday
let the music play
Music is what we master
that is what makes us free
Not compromise
Play the rhythm and the blues
for destiny's child
running wild and
straight into the arms of hip hop
where they sling rap rocks
that kill the eardrum cells
of our unborn
and severs the umbilical chord
to the ancestors
for nickels and pennies they seize
every time a rappers refrain
hollas ni**a please
really saying Neghast from Kebra
not knowing what they meant
so before they were even bought
the money was already spent
because they did not read
the fine print on the contract
about how we act with mixed companies
they sold out for pennies
on the dollar to make
em hoop and hollar
at the dance or for the chance
at making a fortune to defame
the one and the same
they were taught to worship
they fell off the mother ship
and lost the connection
