December 17th is International Day to End Violence Against Sex Workers. This event was created to call attention to hate crimes committed against sex workers all over the globe. Originally thought of by Dr. Annie Sprinkle and started by the Sex Workers Outreach Project USA as a memorial and vigil for the victims of the Green River Killer in Seattle Washington. International Day to End Violence Against Sex Workers has empowered workers from over cities around the world to come together and organize against discrimination and remember victims of violence. During the week of December 17th, sex worker rights organizations will be staging actions and vigils to raise awareness about violence that is commonly committed against sex workers. The assault, battery, rape and murder of sex workers must end. Existing laws prevent sex workers from reporting violence. The stigma and discrimination that is perpetuated by the prohibitionist laws has made violence against us acceptable. Please join with sex workers around the world and stand against criminalization and violence committed against prostitutes.

Desiree Conference, Sex Workers, and the Disabled.
Unfortunitly my financial sponsorship to do a presentation at this year's Desiree conference fell apart, but I can still share a bit of what I've learned here. I also wanted to share some thoughts and ideas below.

Click Here for a Sex Workers' Guide to Disabled Customers, the web version of my presentation. Click the browser ''back'' button to return here.

I found this Interesting article about the disabled and one sector of the adult world.

Click Here for an article: The Disabled and Sex Workers. Click the browser ''back'' button to return here..

When talking about the disabled, we need to remember that the term refers to many groups of people including: blind, deaf, disabled since birth, injured veterians, recently disabled, and a population that is getting older. These groups have physical limitations that sex workers need to understand. I've learned the painful way this year that mainstream disablity groups often don't want to work with sex workers. A solution may be to have a group of sex workers adopt the running of a yearly workshop on disability at the desiree conference, has need, they'd do fundraising for printed materials, videos, and if needed, speakers. the United Kingdom has a group that does this.

I wanted to say thank you so much for the wonderful comment. I am sorry I have not answered sooner. I defnitely believe that prostitution should be decriminalized to protect the health and welfare of sex workers- who are risk of life threatning diseases on a daily basis as well as physical and sexual abuse.

The staggering rates of violence in this country are outrageous, as well as the treatment of young women in the sex trade as no human interests involved. Prostitution is one of the oldest professions in the world, and will carry on for centuries to come. Let us protect these men and women because they are friends, sisters/brothers, fathers/mothers, and relatives.

It is scary to think how young these kids get involved in the sex trade, and lack of ability and willingness to do something! 30 children are abducted every month in GA and the senator brags about saving 6 kids- when 24 are still being abused and the future children to be robbed of their innocence!

It is incredible to see how many lives are sacraficed in the name of political correctness! I think it's time to put the concern for one's health and welfare verses perception and status in one's community. What is right is not always popular, but what is popular isn't always right.

To realize and understand the economic benefits through taxes- that would support community infastructure and schools. As well as protecting the community at large from sexually transmitted infections.

thank you for your time. I wish you the best in your endeavors! Great example I believe is Storybook County- where the famous bunny rach was established and runs to this day!

Sincerely,

Sex Ed 101
