My heart was so weak, but my head was too strong. I found myself upset with the world Because it didn’t see things as I see, And in every direction I would point the blame I’d find that three fingers would always point back at me. If I’m upset with the me I’ve become Why would I hold to my same frame of mind? If I really want to change, then I can’t stay the same; I must leave the old ways behind. Insanity is running ‘round and ‘round in a circle, Somehow thinking that it will suddenly go straight. If I could see myself as we more so than I and me A bigger, brighter picture would resonate.

If you cant recruit um …Shango Eloheem	Sep 24, 2008 6:28 PM THE NEW BLACK PANTHER PARTY NATIONAL MINISTRY OF CULTURE PO BOX 25332, NEWARK, NJ 07101 201-602-0780 September 23, 2008 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE POLICE ATTACK NEW PANTHERS, MAR HIGHLY REGARDED HARLEM PARADE On Sunday, September 21st, the New York City Police Department, in a reckless and outrageous expression of police abuse,senselessly attacked the New Black Panther Party’s contingent in the highly regarded annual Harlem Day Parade. The incident resulted in five members of the Party being arrested and several officers sustaining injuries. The appears to have been set off by the unwarranted pushing of a Panther who was doing nothing more than keeping his contingent in line as they were marching in formation up 135th Street by a police officer. The behavior of the police infuriated participants and spectators alike and could have easily degenerated into a full-fledged riot where scores of people could have been hurt on both sides. The five Panthers arrested, whom the community is now calling the ‘Harlem 5,’ are now facing charges ranging from disorderly conduct to assaulting a police officer. “This is the third time, the third year in a row that there’s been a problem with the police,” said Shaka Shakur, the chairman of the Harlem community. “And the way it happened makes me think that someone in their ranks gave an order to try and start something.” Some have observed that there was something excessive in the scope and presence of the police at that part of the parade. Reminding many of the senseless police attack on the epic Million Youth March, some felt that the “police were priming for something like this to happen.” The incident is believed to have been recorded on videotape. The party has secured legal counsel for those arrested and are hosting a community critical review of the incident at their next weekly meeting this coming Sunday and a speak out on the streets immediately afterwards.

Paulette, NYC Jericho, 718-853-0893 BASHIR HAMEED was born and raised in New Jersey. In 1968, Bashir Hameed joined the Black Panther Party while residing in Oakland CA. Once he returned to New Jersey, he became Deputy Chairman of the New Jersey Chapter of BPP. FBI documents obtained during the 70's reveal that during this time Bashir became a COINTELPRO target. He was charged and convicted of the murder and the attempted murder of two police officers in April 1981. This conviction came as a direct result of his political activity. Bashir Hameed and his co-defendant, Abdul Majid were tried three times (Queens Two). Their first trial ended in a hung jury divided along racial lines, The second trial was declared a mistrial by the judge immediately after the jury rendered a decision that acquitted Bashir on the murder charge. At a third trial, they were eventually convicted for murder. Bashir was serving a sentence of 25 years to life, and recently suffered with pancreatic cancer. Also, according to a recent speech given by former POW Bro. Dhoruba Bin-Wahad, Bro. Hameed had at one point served as Sis.
