Ohil Ochs was absolutely one of the greatest. He was also a great guy to know and pick guitars with. I just ran across an old hit parader magazine where they were trying to make him into "the next dylan". Absolutely mindblowing. Does Michael still have Elvises' gold suit? Just wondering..

THANKS FOR THE ADD. IT"S AN HONOR TO BE HERE.
No Doubt if Phil were here today he'd be furiously writing songs. There sure is a lot going on to write about. I'm doing it in my own way. But Phil was the Master protest Songwriter. As Dylan so aptly put it. I can't keep up. We still can't.

I'm one of the lucky people who knew and worked with Phil Ochs. We sat in our chairs over coffee in the morning, as he told us what he wanted to do that day in the Anti-war Vietnam activities. He was a passionate determined person who never gave up singing about what he knew was right and just as importantly: what was wrong. There was a lot that was wrong in those
days, but even with our great new President-Elect, there's still alot
that's wrong right now. I have never been more inspired by or learned more from an individual than I did from Phil Ochs. He stands as one of the greatest individuals ever to sing a song and pick a guitar. He taught me about our movement and how each of us can stand up everyday and contribute.
I am completely overwhelmed with emotion when I think of Phil Ochs and what he means to our movement and to the history of music!- Peace, Love and Justice!-Bartholomew Bishop

Thanks for the friendship! I've been turning others on to Mr. Och's music ever since I first discovered it back in '96 or '97. I had bought the Live in Vancouver CD and knew right away it was something really special and profoundly brilliant!

I'm a big fan, I believe that if you don't mean what you say in a song you should be a banker.

We need honest songs like Phil's not the bS that (music television/corporations) jam down the throat's of millions of viewers evryday

I posted (John Butler Train ~ The Crucifixion) a song for Phil Ochs and extend & invite for you to listen.

Thank you

Phil- I love recordings, studio and live. The documentary about you, Chords of Fame was incredible and I wish I could find it. You were for real while some of your peers just sang good lyrics but didn't live or believe it. Rev.

Alien Skin thanks you for your friendship

I sound nothing like Phil Ochs, my music is nothing like Phil Ochs, but ever since I recently discovered this man via a John Lennon link, he instantly became one of most cherished singer songwriters! I am so overwhelmed by the man's genuine unflinching integrity, and his commitment to social justice. And of course those wonderful, penetrating songs! An artist of the highest calibre, this was and is the legacy of Phil Ochs!

We all wish you were still here Phil!

cheers from Australia !

THERE ARE FEW NAMES MENTIONED
IN MY LIST OF INFLUENCES.
PHIL OCHS IS ONE OF THEM.
AND WITH GOOD REASON.
AS AN IMPRESSIONABLE 12 YEAR OLD
FOLK SINGER/SONGWRITER BACK IN 1972,
I WAS LOOKING FOR DIRECTION.
DYLAN HERE, THERE, & EVERYWHERE !
I DARED TO LOOK BEYOND THE PALE
FOR INSPIRATION.
WHAT I FOUND IN THE COURSE OF MY
SEARCH, WAS 'PLEASURES OF THE HARBOR'
AN UNDER-RATED MASTERPIECE ON VINYL
THAT ECLIPSED SGT. PEPPERS BOTH IN
MUSICAL COMPLEXITY, AND LYRICAL DEPTH.
I WAS TOO YOUNG AND NAIVE TO UNDERSTAND THAT 'THE CRUCIFIXION'
WAS ABOUT THE KENNEDY ASSASSINATION
AT THE TIME, BUT THAT'S THE BEAUTY
OF PHIL'S WORKS. THE MAN WAS A MASTER
OF IMAGERY AND METAPHOR. PHIL WAS NOT
SO MUCH 'POLITICAL' BUT 'TOPICAL' IN
THE FINE TRADITION OF THE TROUBADOURS
OF DAYS GONE BY. AND THAT'S WHY HIS
SONGS WILL LIVE FOREVER, AND BE RE-INTERPETED FOR MANY YEARS BY BANDS AND ARTISTS OF MANY DIFFERENT
GENRES. CASE IN POINT ; 'TAPE FROM
CALIFORNIA' BY THE PUNK ROCK BAND
SQUIRREL BAIT. AND TO Robert Christgau, I HAVE ONLY ONE THING TO
SAY TO YOU..... GO FUCK YOURSELF !!!!

We've now had 5 years of lies about 9/11, WMD's, and freedom. The real reasons were oil, profiteering, and fascism. Not just Bush, but the news media, most of congress, and all who remain silent. And now they'll use fear to quash dissent. It's nothing new -- it's been going on for ages. War, poverty, ecocide, arrogant bullying --they're all from greed and fear, which come from ignorance. ♥ But it's not too late -- we can still learn to make peace. Talk with people. Love, Eric
