Hey Sean - one of these days I won't be working when you have a show :(  - I have a house full of Sean Rowe fans...Haha I'm livin with my bro and we came home and he recognized your music on 97.7...That was a good interview. - I'm sure ur finding the time to get outside and be around the real stuff! I've decided to do a garden next season and start fermenting my own Kombucha tea - that stuff gets expensive! Well, later on, keep it real brotha.

Too many versions, pup,
but this is one:

Well, I'm drunk again
With my new best friend
Good old what's-her-name
Feeling no pain

I'll cry in my beer
I'll drown in my tears
I'll sleep in my clothes, that is,
If I sleep alone

What does it matter
That I try to change
When things all around me
Stay just the same
And what is the matter
With this easy place
Where mirrors don't force me
To look at my face

I hate my job
And my car needs ... everything
When my husband goes traveling
He takes off his ring
I'm top shelf
Sometimes the bottom as well
Because comfort ain't cheap
But it gets you some sleep

And what does it matter ...
I'm drunk again

A humble bunch

Ritchie and Ralphy were quite a pair.
When they entered a room it filled up everywhere!
They would breath in the magik rocks of crack
And giggle about crack whores and hammer dicks and silly things like that.

They talked and bragged with such delight
About their brawn in macho fights,
But deep inside they were childish elves
Sadly lost within themselves.

Leon was the “Newfy” who bitched at rules and such.
With his loudly, subtle accent you couldn’t understand too much.
The demon gets quite pissed
When convenient using spots are missed!
“No” is simply not a word on the active addicts list
But, I do give them credit for the way they do persist.

Ernest had tunnel vision
When it came to “pissed and stoned”,
Fresh from his lengthy time in prison,
Much too fresh to leave alone!

The no named married woman, who secretly slips away,
Deceiving all her loved ones
With her blatant, hidden cravings to let the demon play
Keeps on and on with her head games her usual, flippant way.

Robby is the youngest one
With his constant “someone’s here,”
Paranoid and disillusioned with sanely comforts
And patients from the queer.

The queer was just the watcher
And the guardian of the gate
With a tiny seed of hope before it was too late
While Jay calmly continues
With his pleading start and stop of time,
His form of letting go deceiving,
Letting the hungry demon go . . . .ahead with the eating of his mind.

Lonely people searching a minute at a time
For some sanity and comfort before they lose their fucking minds!

The magik of the moon

The moon has passed us
With its’ fullness once again.
It was earth mothers’ magik way
To have a peek and lighten up the night
While preparing for the eyes of time
To see the magik of the day.

The empty souls were crying more and more
For them to let us in
As they scratched about their way.
Lost souls in absent tears
With manik pain and endless fears,
With no thoughts about their day,
With no thoughts about their years.

The constant of insane,
A muffled cry for us to ease their plight.
For fuck sakes ease this torture
Of pleasured, ruthless pain
With a call for hope and the kiss and touch
Of earth mothers’ gentle might,
A might we crave and need so much!

Earth mother heard the cries of naked woe.
The sky grew to an eerie, demon black
Foretelling where they could end up
Or choose to go,
The magik clean of mind
Or the deadly dust of blow,
With the blackness of a pull
And a whisper to come back
From where. . . . . . . we’ll never, fucking know!

And then came the brightness of the moon,
So bright to blind all eyes that stare.
The blind of simple black and white,
The power of the moon and sky,
All souls and minds and hearts were bare,
A foreshadowing reflecting those about to die
With earth mother sadly watching
While she shed a simple tear to cry
. . . . . . . But no one seemed to care!

Dear Sean,

Thank you so much for introducing me to your circle of friends, and for reminding me how much I love Leonard Cohen's music.

I thrive on lyric driven narratives with rich imagery that are hauntingly beautiful. Your music is just that and much, much more. I can't thank you enough for seeking me out to share such joyous treasures, except to add bravo!!!

I am also so delighted to see you performing at Falcon Ridge. That festival has such wonderful memories for me. I'll be there in my spirit and thoughts, and will tell my friends about you. I hope that you get to play at the BOT (Big Orange Tarp), after the main stages go dark, or at the other showcases around the camp grounds. To me, these were always special venues.

I hope that our paths may cross some day along that long and dusty road.

Wishing you happiness and tranquility in all things.

Here's a peaceful scene which I photographed myself, not far from where I live, to add to your local Empire State greenery, as a souvenir upon which to reflect, and for good luck.

Cheers and much love,

Joel
