It is used to disguise inaccuracies and mistakes, and has allowed many artists to produce more precisely tuned recordings. Copied from Wiki. Anyways, it's really used for making correcting mistakes. You can choose how human like you want it, so if you want a electronic effect, you'd want it on a very low humanizing setting. You need a multitrack program (FL and Adobe Audition are very useful.) I'm used to Audition, so that's what I use to record, but it also depends on your mic and all of that. Long explanation, but I hope it answered your question dude.
