I recently brought 14 bikes to my Peace Corps community here in Costa Rica via a connection with Bikes for the World (bikesfortheworld. org). If you guys have any spare parts, you could always send them and know that they're going to rural areas. The kids are so proud to be riding the bikes, too, because they're from the USA (haha).

Call for Submissions: Anarchist Yarns

Deadline: August 1st
Length: 1000 words or less
How to Submit: email louisvuittonnight@gmail.com

Description:
Anarchism has a bad rap. There are so many myths and negative assumptions about anarchists floating around that to wade through them all would turn anyone into a creature from the black and red lagoon. Which is why we’re devoting a whole issue to our stories from the silly to the poignant, from the hilahrious to the just fucked. We want everyone and their granny anarchy to write in a short little story that presents the real side of anarchists, whatever that may be. Don’t pull your punches though, no one’s selling anything, we want the truth and nothing but the truth. We are particularly interested in getting some good old punk house stories or stories about all the crazy anarchist co-op shit that goes down but we are equally interested in the personal side of things, the tears behind the sunglasses, so to speak. Honestly, it can even be made up if necessary, fuck the truth, in fact a bed-time story or two wouldn’t hurt anyone. We know you have your stories, and you have a full month, so make it work!

ps.
We’re still looking for anarchist erotic stories, do anarchists even have sex anymore?

The bicycle valet at Rubber Gloves was a great hit. Many commented that knowing your ride is safe makes cycling at night all the easier. We parked around seventy bicycles, and dozens more locked up around the building. Many kudos to Shep and staff, and the event promoters, for helping QCBS facilite bicycle mobility in Denton.

Re: Thomas' question about Green Bikes.

First, thanks for fixing your community bicycle! To answer your question, I would ride the bike somewhere you know someone will enjoy it immediately, but there's no reason you can't leave it outside your home. Someone will eventually come by on the sidewalk and convert to pedal power.

I saw a greenbike at jazzfest this Sunday. I am pleasantly surprised that these things are still out in the public after a whole year. Go Denton!

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
AUTHOR-ACTIVIST TO SPEAK ON PEACE AND COUNTER RECRUITMENT AT UNT:|UA| Asked to Help Host Event

|UA| (United Aid)--in conjunction with the Peace and Woman’s Studies Departments, and Peace Action Denton-- is proud to announce that they will help to host Ret. Colonel Ann Wright’s visit to The University of North Texas in Denton Texas. She will be visiting UNT on April 22nd at 7:00, to speak in room 117 of the Biology Building. The lecture and book sighing is free and open to the public.

Col Ann Wright cabled a letter of resignation to Colin Powell on March 19, 2003 to protest the invasion of Iraq without legal sanction from the UN Security Council. This bold action was only one instance in her long struggle for peace. She has since fasted for a month, picketed at Guantanamo Bay, served as a juror in impeachment hearings, and has been arrested for numerous peaceful protests of Bush’s policies.

While still I active duty, Col. Wright was among those government insiders that leaked documents, refused to deploy, spoke out against the war, and ultimately resigned in protest against the war in Iraq. She and Susan Dixon co-wrote Dissent: Voices of Conscience to tell the story of these brave men and women.

Ms Wright’s visit to UNT represents a major milestone in the growth of the North Texas Peace Movement. Please do not miss this event. |UA| encourages all local, national, and international media outlets to be in attendance to report this most historic North Texas event.

We are asking that all UNT professors who support the twin causes of Peace in the Middle East and Social Justice to allow students to be absent from class on that day, and perhaps offer extra credit for attending.

For more information contact| the UNT Department of Woman’s Studies at wmst@unt.edu, |UA| at http://www. myspace. com/unitedaid or Aron Duhon at adduhon@live.com

Wouldn't it be great to rent a house with some space devoted to QCBS while we await the establishment of our permanent location? I'd be up for it if we could find some uber-responsible people from or near to the Collective Council to be roommates. Of course it would have to pass the Council and probably be cool with the landlord too, but I am getting good feedback from conversations so far.

Well, the ride went well, about forty people showed, very surprising considering the false impression of cold from leftover snow. Probably why no families w/kids showed. If you missed the after-after party at Lou's and at the Luis/Peter house, you missed a lot! The wrestling was especially fun. Maybe next time I'll bring my boxing gloves (hopefully I'll fare better at that).
