Jonas Reinhardt – Jonas Reinhardt If you familiar with the outstanding label Kranky you know that these people put out the finest in music, with acts like Stars Of The Lid, Pan.American, loscil, Labradford, Growing and so on. “Just trying to get people to expand the range of sounds that they listen to…” is their motto. And with that in mind they released a full length debut album by Jonas Reinhardt. Thanks for that Mr. Kranky. .. .. Jonas’ approach to music is new, but with the “old” touch, using analogue synths, giving it all a very special cosmic sound. The first that comes into mind is the French space guys Space Art, or the famous Roedelius/Moebius collaboration as Cluster. Even some Floyd (Echoes) sound comes by. And of course you could add Klaus Schulze to it, but where all those people go into compositions clocking more thirty minutes or so, Jonas keeps it short with the longest track six minutes and sixteen seconds. So this one never bores, on the contrary, you keep on playing this excellent cd over and over again. It’s very enlightening to hear all those “real” instruments again, instead of all those laptop clicks and clacks. And the variety is big here, with sometimes loose space sounds, some very melodical pieces and rhythms added to it. .. .. The resurrection of cosmic sounds is here, with more acts on the way like ((ARP)) or White Rainbow, but with Reinhardt’s debut in your pocket you will be very happy.
