L’anarchismo di Saul Newman si basa invece sulle elaborazioni dello
psicoanalista Jacques Lacan e dell’anarchico Max Stirner. Newman
rigetta alcuni concetti cardine dell’anarchismo classico, dalla
rivoluzione all’essenzialismo, cioè l’antropologia benigna su cui si
basa la fiducia a-prioristica nel mutuo appoggio. Egli intende un aiuto
reciproco fondato sulla "volontà di potenza", attraverso la quale
sviluppare una serie di relazioni intersoggettive (aiuto e l’assistenza
verso gli altri) senza però avere la pretesa di dominare e di negare le
differenze. Come Foucault, egli pensa che il potere si configuri come
un "rapporto di potere" che coinvolge tutti e tutto. Sarebbe
impossibile di conseguenza ipotizzare una società priva di alcun
potere, e negarlo significherebbe alimentare il "risentimento"
(Nietzsche lo definisce come un "auto-avvelenamento dell’anima") .
Newman intende l’ anarchismo come un mezzo in grado di agire sui
meccanismi di funzionamento di questi rapporti di potere, in modo da
ottenere quanta più libertà possibile.
