Hey hey, excuse the spam. . .

"blending low-level hip-hop beats with Scorn-esque bass and elonated guitar riffs to remarkable effect. . . it's that awesome. . . the music is superb, the artwork and packaging equally good. . . [it's] warped shuffling genius. 300% necro, foo'! (5/5)" (Zero Tolerance magazine).

Necro Deathmort's This Beat Is Necrotronic is released on Distraction Records on August 31st, but you can get your hands on it for FREE (on a 'if you like it, why not buy the CD?' basis) in all of its 320kps mp3 glory at distractionrecords.com!

rory, your cd is beautiful. i greatly appreciate your having sent me it... also i want to say more about it but i haven't listened to it this week so i'll probably blather about it at some point when i am fresh with it and critically glowing. also, sorry i won't be coming up to newc with the band. i am distressingly snowed under with end of degree work, so i won't be there, and won't be with cds. but i am working on that mix of the new EP, and there's new bits and i shall send you something deluxe the minute it is done.. hope all is good with you, rowan

Which girl?

*

The natural world is a model, a battleship on a set, a beautiful person. There's a platypus on the television, Christians. You, I'm still reading your novel. The snow outside is a break from the standard model, it goes well with your novel. In literature, does the exercise of precise geometric control of landscape represent a simple communication between friends? A model for yabbering?

the night stars:

BRONNT INDUSTRIES KAPITAL (Static Caravan / Silent Age Records)

Victorian clockwork electronica which isn't afraid to tip its pince-nez to the dancefloor and erupt into italo fueled disco beauty. Somewhere between Goblin, Moroder and the sound of the abyss... check out his soundtrack to Haxan: Witchcraft through the Ages, a superb silent film from 1922, or investigate his presence on Myspace, or at Silent Age Records

JAMIE ALLEN

This man is the future of pop. A new resident to Newcastle, formerly of the Glasgow Improvisers Orchestra and electronics man in the Age of Wire and String. Hot stuff! mmmmm....weblink!

SDF

Disco Cyber Funk with basslines to tell your grandchildren about...check out their myspace

MIKE PLUS

from the Fratelli di Rimini taking the audience on a musical journey from Chicago to Salford, by way of an Italian disco and the moors on the Yorkshire borders.

Franco Soviet DJ collective SUGARPUFF playing Muscled Bangers
& DJ CHOV, experimentalist Turntable champion of both sides of the Pennines.

& also featuring
two beastly movies in the cinema, THE BLIND BEAST, and FLAVIA (an example of the short lived nunsploitation genre)

Do come.

Dec 1, 2008 6:27 PM

This takes place this Thursday! See you there? d.x.

Distraction presents Kania Tieffer, a otter-fixated Chick On Speed cacking out pleasantly disturbed lo-fi fake nonsense r'n'b and vitriolic electropop with cheap children's keyboards, a battered old computer and an electric guitar, in an unmissable live show.
Support comes from sample stealing, tune pinching, melody wrecking a-moral wrong-uns and kings of nostalgia-core Radgepackets, and pointlessly hostile bootmash-noisewhore-wrongtronica idiot Dressed In Wires! Cor!

Only 4 quid in, kick-off at 8pm, find out more here!

Dec 1, 2008 2:41 PM

No no. My method was much simpler than the coin-pencil trickery of which you speak: I believe I burnt the end of a wooden cork to create a charred effect and thus used this to create the fake facial features.

I am glad you remember this though as it was a crowning moment in my career as pub clown.

I am also glad you are liking my new music. I will go and look at your myspace site and learn more of you now as it was much fun in the pub that day and I do hope the experience will repeat before the end of life.

Ooh. And I am having a party for Christmas on the 13th Dec and you are hereby invited. If you can make it i will message you the address. Richard and Ben are both invited too!

Tata for now Rory!
