U-CITY NATIVE, NOW A WORLD-REKNOWN TRUMPET PLAYER,
KEVIN BATCHELOR
JOINS THE MURDER CITY BAND FOR "BATCHELOR PARTY"
Saturday, March 29 at The Duck Room at Blueberry Hill
ST. LOUIS (February 1) - Born and raised in University City, Kevin Batchelor gained prestige as a scholar and performer at the Berklee College of Music. Touring the globe with bands such as Steel Pulse and The Skatalites, he has effortlessly captured the attention of audiences worldwide with his masterful ensemble playing and spirited solos. In addition to playing trumpet, Kevin is an energetic and respected vocalist, influenced by the creative genius of Bob Marley and Louis Armstrong. He recently performed on Broadway as a member of The Full Monty Orchestra on Broadway. And has performed on television programs including The David Letterman Show, The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, BET: 106 and Park, and The Magic Johnson Show.
As Kevin made plans for his triumphant return to St. Louis, he sought the best reggae musicians in St. Louis to perform with him, Murder City Players. Another U-City native, sax player Phil Sykes (aka Buddabean), who has made his name touring throughout the East coast and the South, will join the Murder City Band in support of his long-time, old school friend.
Murder City Players will kick off this evening of reggae, rocksteady and soul music and dancing.
Tickets are $12. General admission. Doors open at 8 p.m., show time 9:30 p.m.
