I, Rebecca Wright, support the no cell phone law in honor of the memory of Officer Jason Norling, and in respect to his surviving family.

Thank you, Officer Norling, for your service and courage. May your memory be justly served.

For your mother, your beloved wife, your brother, your kin, your brother officers and all those who knew and loved you ...

"May the road rise to meet you.
May the wind be always at your back.
The sun shine warm upon your face;
The rains fall soft upon your fields;
And until we meet again,
May God hold you in the palm of His hand."

I could not agree with you more about cell phones. Not to say that the driver of that car is guilty of neglect. My heart goes out to his family as well. I am sure that he is full of sorrow too. This a time to focus on something that will make a difference on our roads. NO CELL PHONES!! (Of Course with that being said - I will probably be the first one to get stopped for using mine). It's not really about the short calls to let someone know you're stuck in traffic. Its the drama filled Episodes that tend to consume people because they dont know when to shut up and drive. (I am not talking about the driver in this incident)!!

May God bless you all and your family during these tough times.

I wrote this poem in Jason's memory. May God bring your family strength during this difficult time and may you find much success in the cell phone ban for cars. I join you in believing they should be.

Forever in Our Minds

A selfless man of valor; a hero, tried and true,
He vowed to serve the public, until his life was through;
A servant sent from Heaven to uphold laws and peace,
Now, flies amid the angels, on billowed clouds of fleece.

He loved to work the freeways; his calling was the road,
A deputy on motorbike, his dedication showed;
Eight years spent in his precinct, he gave the job his all,
He was a loyal veteran who, sadly, took a fall.

Devoted to his family and the force, from the start,
A friend to those who knew him; he had a loving heart.
He held a special passion for helping those in need;
His life will be remembered, through memories of his creed.

A selfless man of valor, now rests beside the moon;
He was, indeed, a hero, who left this world too soon.
Jason Norling held compassion for all walks of mankind,
And, we will keep his legacy, forever in our minds.
