Hi all,

Bit late notice, I know, but I'm going to a Climate Change Forum tomorrow, and thought I'd see if anyone was interested in going too? It's organised by the Campaign Against Climate Change, and there's more details here: http://www. campaigncc. org/forum. shtml

Being so rubbish on the organizational front, I've actually known I was planning to go for over a month, but kind of forgot to mention (also, wasn't actually on MySpace for a while).

So anyways, if anyone fancies going, details of the programme are here: http://www. campaigncc. org/forumprogram. pdf . See you there.

ps - the fete was cool - there were three legged races and ginger beer - nuff said!

Exciting news, CATE fans! Not only is the book out next week, but there's going to be the long awaited CATE Fete next Friday at 6pm in Regent's Park to launch it!

The plan is to have prizes for the best pimped plant-pots, wheel-barrow races and all manner of low-carbon fun, then off to the Crown and Goose in Camden afterwards to toast Mark and CATE.

Please bring picnics, friends, guitars, ginger beer, homemade cakes,

E-mail: tara.gladden@hodder.co.uk for an invite.

Green ideas and generous offers of help vey much appreciated.

We've now had 5 years of lies about 9/11, WMD's, and freedom. The real reasons were oil, profiteering, and fascism. Not just Bush, but the news media, most of congress, and all who remain silent. And now they'll use fear to quash dissent. It's nothing new -- it's been going on for ages. War, poverty, ecocide, arrogant bullying --they're all from greed and fear, which come from ignorance. ♥ But it's not too late -- we can still learn to make peace. Talk with people. Love, Eric

Hoping one of you lovely people can help! I recall reading somewhere (dont ask me where) that there is an organisation that you can send old, good quality suits to and they then give them to disadvantaged women who are trying to get into work. Thought that I wold like to donate my spare suits and do a good deed.

All us CATErs should offset some or all of Mark's carbon footprint (caused by his Al Gore training in Aussie land) by avoiding using our cars etc. So far we have a running total of 18 miles walked, not driven. So get those walking shoes on & post a comment to say how far you have gone - lets see if we can get to Australia & back.

I heard a very disturbing conversation today.

MY MUM: Don't leave the shower on when you're not in it. It's a waste, costs a lot and think of global warming!

MY SISTER: I don't believe in global warming!

How can you not believe in global warming, I wonder? My only conclusion is, my sister is an idiot.

Hi all - Myspace has just deleted my CATE specific myspace page. Something about my age not being represented accurately (I think I'd put that I was 100 or something. Surely that's ageist?!?!) Anyways, not sure if I'll set it up again, as I was a bit rubbish at keeping it up.

New discovery just wanted to share. Found a new bottled water (which I would usually say nergal at cos it's stupid but..) this is called Thirsty World (I think) and 5p of each bottle goes towards making fresh water pumps for developing countries and all pumps are made of recyclable plastic and plant fibre so if you do buy bottled water see if you can buy that instead of usual brand cos then you are sort of balancing up a little

The London "Free Newspaper" Challenge:

Are you tired of having pushy people shoving newspapers in your face?

Is your tube station located near one of London's newspaper recycling bins?

If so then you are eligible to take part in the London "Free Newspaper" Challenge.

Here's how it works.

On my way home from the office I have to walk along the Strand and down Villiers Street to Embankment station. Villiers Street plays host to a dozen newspaper recylcing bins. The Strand plays host to two dozen pushy newspaper vendors. It is your mission to collect as many as you can on your way home and deposit them in the nearest recycling facility.

On this journey I usually average between 8-10 newspapers.

Good luck....It's can get dangerous out there!

Capital FM (who may be part of some nasty big corporation) are promoting the following:

http://www.lightsoutlondon.com/home.asp

"On Thursday June 21 - Midsummer's Night - we are inviting the whole of London to turn off all lights and non-essential appliances between 9 and 10pm."

-------------------------------------

FAO Pissed Liz [FUSB07] :
If you live in Tower Hamlets, Tetra Paks can be left for collection with rubbish, even though they don't advise of this yet - found out by emailing them. I think they get taken elsewhere at present (hopefully in 'green' vehicles) until they can establish the demand. That reminds me, I've got to check with the council that the huge pile of large plastic bags they've delivered to local doorsteps for collecting recyclables, can themselves be recycled as it doesn't mention anything on them. I agree that it's quite difficult knowing exactly what councils will take - even if you've checked ther website
