Hi MD .. ...Lots of local gigs, but not really my sort of jazz, although I sometimes throw in the odd  F#13b9 just for a laugh.  We have a keen and loyal audience of octogenarians, so we have to STOP playing at 9pm, which is when most jazzers are thinking about starting !
I see you were in Caernarfon on the night I played Bangor; Have to say Blue Skies is great venue, nice size for Jazz or poetry, check it out.
Love to Mrs Daws and family. Hope its going well

Hi,

Thought you might be interested in this...

CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS

holophon.ca is a concert series and audio collective based in Regina,
SK that engages with sound as an artistic medium, with a focus on
uniting various artistic, geographical and cultural communities through
sound-work. In partnership with Tracy Hamon, a poet and writer from Regina, SK
we are planning a collaborative concert that reacts against perceptions
of post-post modernism by reaching back to modernist roots for
inspiration.

Whether it’s Symbolist, Impressionist, or Gertrude Stein’s hermetic
word portraits, consider the exchange as an opportunity to emphasize
your work. We are seeking submissions that engage modernism as an
integral trend of thought that affirms our power to create. The open
call accepts:

pre-recorded material
performance
sound/slam/text based poetry
or any combinations thereof
no more than 15 minutes of material/work or 15 pages of text

This event will occur in Regina, SK on Nov. 7, 2009 as the launching of holophon.ca's season two of programming. Artists are not required to be in attendance at this event: honorariums will
be paid, but we cannot support artist travel fees at this time. Submissions must be received by Sept. 25, 2009.

PLEASE INCLUDE WITH EACH SUBMISSION

Good to hear from you - all fine here though slightly hectic (album's in the 'factory' as we speak). Hope all going well with you too - looks like it is.

Always interested in playing for a good (and by that I probably do mean well-behaved) audience...! Maybe you could drop me a line with some dates?

Hi. I've now completed the third part of my “Super Glue for the Broken Hearted” trilogy so here it is and I hope you can take something from it! Parts 1 and 2 (“She Breathes” and “She Frees”) are on my blog and if I've known you a while they may be on your comments page from last year too.

Many thanks for the friendship and support and have a great day! ~ Si =)

HE BLEEDS

Love is like no-one else you ever met.
His face obscured like a diamond of light behind white shadows.
You laugh and sob in his presence, unable to comprehend his majestic beauty.
He takes your hand and leads you through worlds of immeasurable splendour, devastating loss, ravishing beauty and unspeakable pain.
When darkness surrounds, you lose all sight of him and scream out in terror like a child rejected by it's parent.
But in time you realise that he has let go of your hand because he now carries you in his arms.

He stands in the gap between you and everything that would harm you.
He negotiates for you, he fights on your behalf.
He absorbs all pain, darkness, heartache, fear, loss, grief, sadness, evil, torture and death.

He roars like a lion and bleats like a lamb.
He lives in serenity, creates courage and is the foundation of all wisdom.

He is the starving child in Africa, the destroyed family of Iraq. He is the bedraggled alcoholic on the street corner. He is the married executive on his way to the whore house. The terrified mother with a dying child. He is the baby killed at the hands of those who should have protected him and also the parents who did that.

He is black, white, light and dark. He stands outside of time and towers over everything else the universe has ever known.

But in all strength, he is weak and utterly defenceless. He steps in front of you. He cries.

He reaches out his arms, and enveloping your soul into his heart,
He drops his head and he dies.

Thank you for sending me your music in 2008.

You featured in my selection of the best Welsh music of the year [broadcast on BBC Radio Wales last night, Sunday December 28th].

You can hear the show here:

http://www. bbc. co. uk/iplayer/episode/b00g4w1p/Adam_Walton_28_12_2008/

I'd love to hear what you think about the show & the other 48 songs / artists featured in it.

Please keep your music coming.

We start a new feature on the show next Sunday night [4th January] -- the F.A.Q. where we get authoritative industry people to answer *your* questions about any aspect of music making / recording / mastering / distribution etc. etc.

For example, next week, a representative from the Glastonbury Festival will be telling you how *you* can play there in 2009.

Other questions we will be answering over the weeks will include:

What is publishing?

What is PRS / MCPS?

How do I get my music onto iTunes?

How can I make a home recording sound 'professional'?

What are the do's and don'ts of sending a demo to a record label?

IF YOU HAVE A QUESTION PLEASE E-MAIL IT TO ME!

themysterytour@gmail.com

They will be asked anonymously, if you prefer.

Happy New Year / Blwyddyn Newydd Dda
