I'm quite saddened to just find out that Matt has passed on. I had the pleasure of meeting Matt on one occasion at THe Amazing Things in Framingham. We spoke once over the phone after that and now i find out he's gone. Matt was a kind soul & a heck of a Dobro player too! Rest In Peace! TG

Playing an acoustic duo with Billy Bileca on upright bass Friday night at C.J.Sparrow's in Cheshire, 8 - 11. Then the Wandering Roots Trio will be at the Bear in Grill on the Post Rd in Orange Saturday. 9:30 - 12:30.

What can we say? Matt was a terrific person and he'll be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him! We played in a band with him for 6 wonderful years, and he taught us alot. He was a great talent and we all know that!Jean if you're reading this...know that we care so much for you that sometimes it's just too hard to talk!!Be strong and we will talk soon.

Damn, Matt! I'm thinking of all the crazy times touring Europe and all the times we pestered you with those fake snakes at the festivals, and how good-natured you were about it all. I still can't believe you're gone, can't be true. At the memorial I was stunned by the breadth of your musical associations and connections. The world will be a less musical place without you in it, and I know Roger was honored to have been chosen to play your Dobro--didja hear how he played it? Just like you!

I am so shocked by the sudden passing of such a wonderful and talented person. Matt was truly one of the genuine "nice guys" and I will always treasure the memory of my first meeting with him...coming downstairs at the NESF cast house to see him in the kitchen, wondering who the stranger in the house was when he said "Hi, I'm Matt. I'm Jean's husband. What would you like for breakfast"? The breakfast rocked, by the way.
I am sending all of my MySpace friends to Matt's page so that they can hear some of his music. Condolences and lots of love to Jean, Joel, and Kim.

I just heard the news of Matt's passing last night... so sad. I'm glad to have met him and seen him perform. Of course, I expected to see him often and hoped to get to know him. He inspired me in life and will continue to inspire through his music and the memory of his gentle spirit. My thoughts and prayers are with his loved ones. God bless...

I met Matt in Chesire when we did a public access show together. He seemed to me to be a gentle, outgoing, friendly soul. I remember having a nice conversation with him.

May his music live on, and bring peace to his friends and family.

What?! This is so shocking! I just exchanged messages with Matt about a week ago or so. He was busy renovating his house. What happened?! And he was so young, too!
Not only will I miss him, but NYC will miss him and his beautiful playing in the subway.

We're so grateful to have had the chance to play 2 gigs with Matt sitting in with us. He was a fine musician and a fine human being. It will take a long time to get over the shock of his loss, but he leaves some wonderful memories and some wonderful music behind. With love and heartfelt condolences to Jean and the family.

Tonite I was coming by Matt's site to listen to him play as I often do and tell him how wonderful he sounds (which I will still do).I am shocked and so very saddened. It was always a pleasure having him at the Tearoom. What an incredible talent. My very deepest condolences go out to Jean and his friends and family.
