Hi Mr. Kristof. i am writing not for myself. My teacher Ms. Sarah Small is someone i think would be perfect to take along for your trip. She read to us your article announcing the contest and has been teaching us African literature by such authors as Chinua Achebe. She would be a perfect candidate because she, like many, is extremley bothered with the poverty and disease problems children are suffering with in Africa and is truley determined to help make the world a better place. She mentions to us how much she would love the chance to accompany you and see up close the devastation occurying. you will not be disappointed if you bring my teacher with you. you can find out more about Ms. Smalls by contacting me through my myspace. thanking for reading my comment.

Though I am not eligible to enter this contest, being neither a student nor a teacher, I would like to congratulate Mr. Kristof and the Times for undertaking this project.
As fine as this is, though, it represents only one aspect of his work, and I hope that steps are being taken to nominate him for the Nobel Peace Prize.

I'm wondering if I might be able to reapply. i'm not feeling to satsified with my first essay and would like to give you a more succinct version. I know that I am the candidate you're looking for, and I'm not sure if I expressed that clearly enough....?

Hey! I think the win a trip idea is really great, and I would apply, but I am not into journalism. I'm studying to major in French and become a French teacher.
Also, I recently traveled to Africa. I was in the cities of Jinja and Soroti, Uganda for 2 weeks. It was such an amazing experience. We held a few medical clinics, and also visited refugee camps. It was the best feeling in the world to be there and help those people, I loved it so much. I cannot wait until I get a chance to go back! (Which actually I am trying to plan a trip, for a whole month this time, in August)
Too bad this trip is about journalism/reporting, or I would definitely apply. I love to be around the people and kids, they're all so amazing and have such amazing stories.

Hi Mr. Kristof,
I am so excited for you to go on this trip - I think that this is a really cool and modern way to teach people about global issues, and I love that you care about students. It seems like we often fall through the cracks when it comes to opportunities to really make a difference in the world. I am a student at CU-Boulder, and I sent my application in already. I didn't, however, include any samples of my work; I have been making films for eight years and I was an intern at a TV station. I didn't know how to upload a film into the application... I am wondering if there is an address to which I can send a sample of my movies? I hope that if you saw some of my work that it would qualify me for further consideration. Thanks so much!

Thanks for adding. This is such a great concept. America needs more journalists like you. Your ventures and column help us reflect and continue to re-assess our purpose in life. We need people like you to reminding our kids how much we have, and how little it takes for us to make a difference, if we want to.

Mr. Kristof, you are a true inspiration to all people who read your columns. Hopefully, through outreach programs such as these, a light can be shined on the terrible crimes being committed before our blind eyes.
Great spot on Colbert too, though I don't think he got the plug in for this myspace contest which would have probably tripled the applicants due to myspace's power, for better or worse.
Best of luck to you and to all those who fight for people who for whatever reason don't have a voice in our world.
I'd enter this contest myself, but am not currently enrolled full-time in a school. However, I still plan to do my part and travel to Africa this summer to volunteer as best I can.
Thanks for all you do.
PS: I sent you an email a few weeks back about potentially seeking an interview from you for a documentary I'm working on. My offer still stands, if you have some time, even ten minutes, I'd be indebted to you.
Adieu.

Mr. Kristof, if I were still in j-school I would stalk you until you took me with you to Africa. Best of luck in finding your reporters! Thank you for your amazing work on Darfur.
