This is one of the worst albums I’ve ever heard. It’s an absolute cacophonous mess. It sounds like a 5-year-old who found drumsticks and a drum set and started going crazy and one of his friends yelling incoherantly into a microphone while trying to figure out how a guitar works. It’s not worth the disc it’s printed on. Unless they are trying to be dadaists, they should quit. Honestly.

Hunting Lodge is the sound of idiot bearded children channelling scum-prog [on the selling room floor]; a twitching energy of freeform skronk, swaggering hi-life strut and anthemic prog concentrated into a sustained sugar tantrum of joyous macho excess - reclaiming pop for men with more body hair than sense.

The live shows are quickly becoming legendary; witnessed in squats, clubs and backrooms around Europe by increasing numbers of happily bewildered onlookers. An unpredictable overwhelming spectacle that swallows every accident that falls in its path and vomits it all back out in a sloppy sparkling stream. The experience varies wildly from gig to gig as songs are continually twisted into new shapes by blown fuses, karaoke stage invasions, and singer Dan Chandler's erratic ape-savant vocalisations.

On record the sound is tighter but no less joyful, with the chaos of the live shows traded in for a noise rock cabaret of riffs, pounding beats and giddy skiffle. Obtuse freeform tunes are woven around rumbling bass lines and rock-solid drumming in a mixture that took "Hero of the Beach" from their 2006 debut "Energy Czar" to No 18 in that year's BBC Radio 1 Festive 50.

Soon to be re-released, improved and repackaged, by Yosada Records in the US, Energy Czar was engineered by John Stevens (responsible for Electric Wizard's massive "Dopethrone"), mastered at ear shredding levels by Weasel Walter of the Flying Luttenbache

Every time I saw you guys play it was weird, mesmerising and more than a little scary. The shows with Lydia Lunch and Melt Banana were incredible.
