Haven't talked with you in awhile. I hope things are going well up there in the mountains and that your reeds continue buzzing.

A Poem by Babaji
A Himalayan Saint
Love and serve all mankind, Assist everyone
Be cheerful, be courteous
Be a dynamo of irrepressible happiness
See God and good in every face
There is no saint without a past
There is no sinner without a future
Praise every soul
If you cannot praise someone, let them pass out of your life
Be original, be inventive
Dare, dare, and then dare more
Do not imitate. Stand on your own ground
Do not lean on the borrowed staff of others
Think your own thoughts. Be yourself
All perfection and all virtues of God are hidden inside you, reveal them
God is already within you reveal Him
Let God emancipate you. Let your life be that of a rose
Through silence it speaks in the language of fragrance

That stinks that you won't be able to make the workshop! I was really looking forward to seeing ya. If Paddy's cool with it, I'm gonna take some video and post it on my YouTube channel.
Hope you're doing better & playing lots of music!

can't be arsed to do the quiz Phil, but like you, I am obsessed with the uilleann pipes and those who can actually play them.
By the way 'Telling the Bees' CD is out, see there profile on our top friends list.
A wicked bit of English border piping from my mate, Dr Andy Letcher!

Thanks for being part of my network on Myspace, Phil, and for your interest in my novel. It's really great to be in touch with fellow science fiction enthusiasts. Please help spread the word about the importance of space exploration. Amazon reviews are always greatly appreciated!
Best wishes,

Brother Phil,
I have a new friend, and I am thrilled our first meeting was watching the greatest living piper, Paddy Keenan. Look forward to playing together. Maybe between you and Matt I can get me reeds working right.

Oh, you have a Hillman chanter? They are screamers! In making reeds for them I've found that you need to scrape the back of the scrape pretty deep to get a good hard D out of them. I don't own one, but I know Mark and some people who have his chanters.

Hey Phil,
Matt got me started playing years ago when he was about 17;) Terry still lives in Knoxville as far as I know. Haven't seen him in a few years. Wendy Smith, ex-Finnegan's aWake, would know how to reach him. Wayne Bean doesn't play smallpipes or guitar or much of anything anymore these days. I have his old set of Northies;) His wife Jean plays with Sigean. Yeah, we'll have some tunes someday!

I live in Spotsylvania, VA, but usualy go to sessions in Northern VA because there aren't any around here. If you're ever in that area, let me know.
I'm know as seisflutes on the chiffboard, you may have see a few post by me, although I don't say a lot.
I can certainly understand prefering the C set! I only have a D half-set so far, that's all I can afford. But as soon as I can I fully intend to get a B set, or at least a B chanter to start with. I've gotten to borrow a friend's B full-set a few times and I love it so much. Flat sets are the best.
Cheers!

Phil,
I never get to go the the Johnson City Session because of work. I have been once with Tom and Frank, my bandmates. I hope we can get together soon. How close is Pat Sky to you? Moving to Spruce Pine I think. Take care, look forward to meeting you and playing a tune.

Phil,
I hear you about the phosphor bronze. I prefer cane.
Making reeds is a blast. I go in phases. I get really crazy with it for a couple days then stop for a couple days.
I switched to wire bridles recently.

Your playing evoked memories of Co. Clare, and if my singing made you think of Micho Russell, we both traveled to Doolin that night in JC.
