Hey!
So, our friends The Oregon Donor have agreed to play the end of the Sunday performance for a half an hour or so. I asked them to introduce themselves to the students and give a little blurb about why they play etc. I don't know what ferry you are headed out on, but you should check them out. :) Rick(Kathryn's dad) says he's in charge of your ferry ticket, he'll be calling/sending it soon. Hope you are well!

The city of Auburn, located 20 miles south of Seattle, was home to some of the earliest white settlers in King County. Nestled in a fertile river valley, Auburn has been both a farm community and a center of business and industry for more than 150 years.

Beginnings

Auburn is located near the original confluence of the Green and White rivers, both of which contain runoff water from the Cascade Mountain range. The valley was originally the home of the Skopamish, Smalhkamish, and Stkamish Indian tribes. The first white men in the region were explorers and traders who arrived in the 1830s.

Settlers first came to the valley in the 1850s. The arable land, the abundant salmon, and the proximity to both Puget Sound and the mountain passes made it an ideal location for hardworking farmers and fishermen wishing to sell their goods. In fact, that’s what White River Indians had been doing there for thousands of years.

By 1855, treaties had been signed with Indian tribes throughout Puget Sound determining land rights, but the White River Indians were more reluctant to be moved than the Snoqualmie and Snohomish tribes to the north. Starting in the fall of 1855, some of the local Indians decided to fight back.

Slaughter

On October 27, 1855 an Indian ambush killed nine people, including women and children. A few children escaped and were helped towards Seattle by local natives who were sympathetic toward them. This began what became known as the Seattle Indian Wars.

In November, a military unit was dispatched from Fort Steilacoom, near Tacoma. Led by Lieutenant William Slaughter, they camped near what is now present-day Auburn. On December 4, 1855, while Slaughter was conferring with another officer, a group of Indians attacked, killing him and two other men.

More troops were brought into the area, and within a few months the Indians had retreated and the war was quickly over. A new treaty was written which provided the establishment of the Muckleshoot reser

Oh, and I already got a reply from almost everybody's parents and the 31st works for them. Rory is the only one I'm waiting on and even if he can't make it, we can lay down bass, drums and vocals. We'll dissect our songs and start trouble shooting up here.
Happy New Year!

new lyrics i wrote tell me wt u think plz

Forgetting memories

The day u said that you hated me and said that u would never love me

Was the day u broke my heart into tiny little pieces

Even though I awoke from this bad dream

I knew it all happened because I glued together all the pieces

These distant memories of you will never fade away

And I just want to forget of all the hate

And I stand here still while I am troubled and tired

In those ordinary crazy days I searched for an answer but I found a disease

Waiting for a timeless time to pass by me

I still stand here waiting to be a distant memory

[Chorus]

When I gazed upon the grand blue sky I realized

That you will always be there

Even if I try to lock the memory away

Sometimes I feel like I want to cry and die on the inside

Those memories that I locked away come back and haunt me everyday

There's no way that il forget these feelings

The key that I threw away came back and re-opened those memories

The tears came down and they changed my destiny

But with these reopened memories I have to remember I have to remember

These distant memories

[Chorus]

When I gazed upon the grand blue sky I realized

That you will always be there

Even if I try to lock the memory away

Sometimes I feel like I want to cry and die on the inside

Hey Joe!
What's your schedule for the end of June /early July? We want to come down and record It's All Wrong in your studio and hang with you and your vocal coach! Let's do this thing! We are still in negotiation with the school about holding a summer Rock Shop Day Camp and they are amenable but glacial. Call me at home 378-5834!!!

Hey Joe,
Thanks for coming up and Rocking out the island and especially the Middle School. All the powers that be are pleased with the outcome. I am slightly regretful for decking you in the face on the last day, but promise to only abuse you verbally the next time you come up. Damn, Rock Shop is Rough! I'm super glad that Miles fleshed out the original he's been working on for months. The answer why, if the band can write a song in 1 and a half hours yet we only have 5 originals is as follows. Bobby and I provide the space and support for the band to write their own material, but we don't harangue them. Rock Shop provides the thumb screws and asks them to step up and actually stretch their limits and gives them a timeline. For our band, Rock Shop feels like a music boot camp but in a great way and we leave feeling accomplished, capable and strong. You Rock! Thanks so much, let's talk soon about doing a three day Rock Day Camp this summer. Maybe one of your bands can come up and camp out on our property and kick it with our band?

Hey Joe! Thanks for all you taught Me'tairie & Essine over the weekend! They both wanted to play drums & guitar (respectively) before Rock Shop, but you've totally inspired them to go through with the challenge of learning to play. They were amazed with all they accomplished, and now both are asking for instruments for their upcoming birthdays! Maybe they can form their own band! ;)
We've been watching the videos of their performances over & over, and sharing them with fam & friends. What a completely awesome experience...we can't say thanks enough for your efforts!!!!!You rock!
