2. Enter JOSHUA THOMAS (my pen name) in the search box
3. Click "search" button
4. A list of all my stories appears
5. Click a link are read

You can also do the same thing under the POETRY section. I have many of the lyrics for my songs there along with other encouraging poems.

Hi, thanks for the add! Thanks also for your inquiry about posting chapters. I would encourage this as long as there is a disclaimer noting that the individual samples are meant to be viewed as works in progress, and not as final drafts. Anything submitted on the site will invite criticism, and I hope it won't take away from any of the fun. Otherwise I see this activity being a good thing because it could help struggling writers get noticed (hopefully in a positive way).

wow! lot of opinions here. i think it is an interesting tool and will investigate. of course, one would think a complete short story should work better than a chapter. btw folks, the limit has been raised to 3000 words. thanks for the invite.

U recently made a quick stop to my website & asked kindly to voice my opinion on Chapter Submissions. From
past experience & knowledge of issues
related to your question. I think it's fine as long as Each writer naturally retains all rights to his or her work. I don't see any harm in many submitting chapters, again...providing each writer retains
their rights to their work. From 1995
to the present time, I too have witnessed work from some authors used
by others because of the reason I mentioned, including me. Your idea is

providing every author retains all rights to their own work...in all fairness. Again, that's just my opinion, one out of a billion. It doesn't really count, but I'm being polite in responding to your question. Congrats to all Contributers & keep up the Good Work--StoryWar.

Hi, Story.

I've taken a look at the forum and have registered on there, although, having said that, I am not a short story writer.

I can not see any problem with people submitting short stories but I would be hesitant of any work that isn't copyrighted as you can get 'lurkers' who will pinch other writers' work. I have seen this happen before.

I haven't copyrighted my work yet as I'm still working on it so I doubt I'll be posting anything on there for some time yet.

In all honesty, I don't think my work would be accepted because the only thing I would be able to post are chapters to my novel. However, because I wanted my readers to be captivated and their interest held 100% throughout my novel, I have written my 'chapters' in a way that each chapter is very much like a short story in their own right. I also wanted the 'tempo' of my novel to be fast paced so my chapters are relatively short compared to what is considered the norm, infact I don't even refer to them as 'chapters' but more as sections (Is there such a thing as a norm? I think you get the gist of what I am trying, albeit poorly, to say?).
I did try to post on the 'newbie forum' but it's saying that my username & password don't match, so I'll try again later.

I'm not opposed to chapter submissions, but there should be a word count limit. I'm personally hesitant about submitting longer bodies of work online. But to each his own. Make sure your work is copywritten!

The Wind Inside

Alone in this place that surrounds me on this night
Nothing but the wetness of the misty air as I shiver from it on this dark beach
Gathering the warmth from the sand like a blanket to enclose me

It seems the style of serialization has sent ‘haters’ into tailspins. But not to worry for those who craft, read, and enjoy episodic delights. The melodramatic serial in which each episode can end in some sort of suspenseful situation or revelation is an art form… and now, I present positive commentary from fans at StoryWAR regarding the THE VILLIKON CHRONICLES…

“All in all it was a good beginning to what seems to be one hell of a story! I'm going to pass it around my office and get others hooked. This wasn’t your standard Sci-Fi piece. Star Wars is too cartoonish. The Villikon Chronicles is the future!”

“I can't tell you how much this story is reflecting the state of our world to me right now. The corruption and greed of government, the will of individuals. The sickness and disease is a mirror for the greed we (humans) are stabbed with. (This could also be a parody of aids/cancer.... imperial greed, or even Vietnam. I have not been able to stop reading. The life patterns of the characters e.g. Enkryptus and his love for Adonia; he loves, he mourns, he's loyal. While chapters are incomplete works (as opposed to short stories), it is a good sign of the strength of your writing if a chapter can convey a complete message. As long as the message (content) is conveyed, the length or form is irrelevant. Chapters should be viewed as equal to short stories, and receive the same scrutiny.

I'd say that putting up chapters is kinda silly since they're incomplete works and can't be judged properly. And a publisher doesn't want work out there before the book is even picked up... Thanks for the comment. I've been too busy to write anything for the Story War... Sorry...
