Hemingway Writing and Performance Workshop

Chicago Slam Works, the newly formed non-project that made its presence known at the Printers Row Book Fair managing the Poetry Stage, has launched its second project: "Fuel Your Inner Poet" a series workshop sessions presented at the Hemingway Museum in Oak Park, Illinois.

Hemingway Writing and Performance Workshop

There will be eight sessions taught by various (TBA) poet/instructors from around Chicago. I'll be leading the performance exercises, a live version of "Take the Mic" The grand finale will be a performance by workshop participants on the front porch and lawn on the Hemingway House in Oak Park.

Freestyleur déchaîné, jamais en manque de mots, de rimes et d’ironie, Dgiz s’immisce partout : rappeur de cité,
de cabaret, de salon bourgeois ou de squatt underground, son don d’ubiquité ne cesse de surprendre. Slameur virtuose, ses textes sont pertinents.

Il passe en revue les maux de sa génération entre béton et prison, sans pour autant tomber dans les clichés du genre et plutôt que de vociférer sa rage,
il l’évoque et l’effleure avec intelligence mêlant les mots à des sons jazz et hip-hop, le tout dans un flow impressionnant de rapidité. Dgiz mitraille ses rimes avec un humour évident qui ne gêne en rien l’intelligibilité du discours. Une telle maîtrise de la langue mériterait bien une chaire à l’Académie Française... Non ?

"PolyRhythmic Without a Trace" will be at The Spot, 4437 N Broadway, on Tuesdays during January and February while Trace is closed for renovations.
