Proyecto Jardin and Caracol Marketplace supporters please join us as we welcome the Peace & Dignity runners into Boyle Heights/L.A. They will pass by the garden for a short prayer. Please bring any feathers or stones that you would like the runners to carry as a prayer. We will be at the garden on Sunday, July 20 at 10am. We expect the runners to come by anytime between 10am-12 noon. They will only be at the garden for a short period of time; less than 30 minutes. Please contact me if you have any questions. Thank you for your continued support and dedication to our PJ community.
Peace and blessings,
Melissa

Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring, all of which have the potential to turn a life around.”

Love
Love is a sacred word
Love is the name of God
The entire universe is created with Love, by Love, and in Love
Love is the beginning, Love is the continuation, and Love is the end
Love for Lover’s sake is divine
It is constructive, it is beautiful
It brings peace, it brings harmony, it brings joy
To the lover and to the loved
But if Love is based on selfishness, egoism,
The very same Love brings destruction
Peace and harmony is based on Love
And used properly, by a selfless mind, for the benefit of the humanity
Love knows no business
Love knows no bargain
Love never expects anything in return
Love knows only giving, giving, and giving
Without even waiting for a thank you
Such a Love is the supreme One
Let that Love Supreme reign over the universe
Om Shanti
Shanti
Shanti

The garden is a great way to relieve some of the stress of daily life. believe it or not folks, some good old fashioned hard or focused work can be a good source of relaxation. Maybe there is someone out there who wants to do some gardening but doesnt know how to start. And the garden doesn't always have a supervisor to get a novie going good and proper, so, if somebody is interested in going to the jardin to help out but doesn't know what to do when they get there, well...1. any grass growing along any fence or underneath any bush or tree can be removed by hand or with a hoe or shovel. 2. There is trash on the lot that can be easily identified and placed into the trash can. 3. If you see any tools laying around they can be placed behind the adobe shed.
these are a few things some one can do any day of the week anytime they want to come by the garden...for themselves as well as for the community. peace.

I'm wonderin' what exactly will be on the list of seeds to be planted at the end of the month...beans; to regenerate for the next summer, even though they will grow slower than in the summertime, they will be giving up the nitrogen nice and sweetly. Although it is unlikely to happen, I could envision a huge amount of the plots allocated for beans! cabbage, cauliflower, broccoli, are a few good winter time ideas, no? I bet someone out there could come up with alot more.

En la manana duerme
un triste caracol.
Y en la manana hay noticias
de otra mujer que fallecio.
Fue encontrada en el desierto
de Juarez al amanecer.
Sus padres se enteran al ver
tras de la television.
El juez y la policia dicen
que no hay una explicacion.
Hay casos mas importantes
que tenemos que resolver.

En la manana duerme
Un triste caracol
Y en la manana despierta
Un nino llorando
Llora porque tiene hambre
Y se le hablanda el corazon
Al ver que no hay de comer
Sin ninguna explicacion
Y en los brazos de su madre
Su hermanita enferma esta
Y por defender la tierra
Su padre preso esta.

Sembrando la verdad,
sembrando en tierra nutritiva,
de nuestra conciencia y espiritu.
cultivando semillas de amor
zanando el dolor
fuertes raices que dan a una flor.

Caracol caracolito
que bonito fue verte fuerte
creciendo y adornado
con flores y papel picado
Fue mas que un dia de muertos
fue una noche de cultura
que por suerte y por fortuna
me toco vivir en vida
Thanx for inviting us to play

What up fam. I'm just chillin' up in the Bay and thinking how fortunate I am to have friends and community in L.A. who are connecting us to mama earth. Nobody thinks of l.a. as a place to find sustainable education so you all are the true warriors of our generation. Keep it up! One love.
