Glad to hear that Suspended Animation went over well. I find that a lot of people seem to still be playing it, which is a good thing! I'm looking forward to coming out your way to work with the PMEA Region II Band next month. I know you are busy but it would be great if you could come up to enemy territory for a visit.

So I just read one of the old comments you left me, which said something to the effect of "that would suck like a bass clarinet solo with a community band..." Yeah, I definitely saw her at the Hard Rock in Pittsburgh last weekend. Man, I'm good at being fake-nice.

Also, did you notice that there is a clarinet soloist this year? UGH... I'll refrain from writing what I'd like to.....

I'm auditioning at Carnegie Mellon on Friday, and let me just say that deciding to audition for grad schools the same time I'm student teaching was about the stupidest idea I've ever had. I'm gonna need some prayers, cause I'm so far from prepared. :(

Glad you liked that. I just about puked, especially in light of our conversation on my way down there. The concert was fabulous and the kids were wonderful. Next year, if he get a gig in your stats and I don't, I'm annexing the territory for NJ.

No he didn't, but I would be interested to hear about it. I would also like to share with you my experience in the ghetto. I have kids named Sirr, Chancellor, Chardonnay, Honestasia, Bossa (she's a little fat girl), and Re'Altyi (that's Reality...obviously). I had a third grader tell me I was older than his mama and I should be makin babies. Today I had a boy drawing a penis in his music book. I have witnessed numerous fights. I also have a boy who refuses to let me call him anything but "Hip Hop Hey".

oh, the joy.

So Nick told me what the good doctor asked him the other day. Seriously?!?? whatever. I think if I made it in to the New York Phil, I still wouldn't be good enough in his eyes. Is it that I didn't bend over backwards for him when I was the assistant? or that I'm female? or that I like you, maybe?? haha..

PS, it should be illegal to do an entire 4 hour performance of the Marriage of Figaro... especially on Super Bowl Sunday.

thanks for asking...mr. erb didnt even remember.
~I had auditions at Duquesne yesterday and they went really well, a few little mistakes here and there, but in both my piano and clarinet performance auditions, they told me i would get a lot of scholorship money...it was a great day in Pittsburgh yesterday. my YSU audition is march 1st and then im done stressing out haha

Great Festival...you truly were the "host with the most"...excellent Act 48 presentations, and everything was very well organized! I had a great time, and thanks again for asking the Big Band to play. Maybe we could even come back to the school and play at your jazz festival sometime!

Thanks, Travis. I'm really glad to hear that Enchanted Night has made an impression on you. I just did it last night with my group, the Bloomfield Youth Band, and I'm doing it with a county band in Maryland in February. I think that's my second favorite of everything I've written. Don't ask me how th piece sells! Suspended Animation is fun, too. Glad you like it!
