It's a pleasure, it's pain, would you still do it again... of course you would! Sunderland and England we are cursed to have the passion of two teams who deserve more but get less, the team who should do it but never quite make it. You love it, I love it, we all love it, Because our faith makes us what we are... Sunderland, England and forever proud... FTM

I've never been a sunderland fan, but the book is a great read. It's the first book i have read more than one chapter of in more than 15 years, the last book i finisher was Stig of the Dump in primary school.

Some really funny bits!

Jul 28, 2007 3:41 PM

I was on the premier league fanzone and some people were on there talking about spurs west ham and us after him. I..m sure its just talk. As long as we dont sign him and bowyer, cos hes supposed to be on his way out.

Jul 23, 2007 2:35 PM

yeah, good point. i'm quite excited about the prospect of craig gordon though. he's a top, top keeper. one which i truly believe will become one of the best in the world.
Y2Jamie.jamie chapman

Jul 23, 2007 1:29 PM

you know the world has gone mad when we are saying jeff whitley is better than an "argentinian ace" but that seems to be the way this disscussion is going haha. i've just heard, via sky sports news, that we're interested in schwarzer from boro. good news or bad?
Y2Jamie.jamie chapman

Jul 23, 2007 1:12 PM

it does seem mad. especially when you think what a good player he was. when he was at lazio, you can't imagine anyone saying this about veron, never mind a team that had just been promoted. but i strongly believe if we did sign him, it would be a mistake and he would be just another whitley.
Y2Jamie.jamie chapman

Jul 23, 2007 12:54 PM

i see we've been linked with veron... do we want him? we know he can't play in england. he was in good man utd and chelsea teams and couldn't play. scholes is a prospect that excites me, and i'm sure i speak for every sunderland fan around the world when i say we can only hope. i still believe we need another striker. alves would be an excellent signing! otherwise i think we'll be pinning our hopes on stokes and chopra which i hope will be a good enough strike pair but i guess i just want the security.

Jul 23, 2007 12:32 PM

‘Leighton Baines to sign for Sunderland by next Wednesday for £6 million pounds.’

‘Roy Keane to make a move on loan for Darren Fletcher of Man United.’

‘Expect Juan Sebastien Veron to sign for Sunderland as early as next Monday.’

‘Trinidad and Tobago Midfielder Silvio Spann is on trial with Sunderland expect Keane to make a move for him sometime next week as he has impressed in training and will be used as cover for Carlos Edwards.’

‘have it on good authority that Alfonso Alves is currently on holiday in portugal after the Copa America, and he will link up with the rest of the players from Sunderland while they are there over the weekend on a training exercise. Roy (the king) Keane will have a good look at him before making a decision on offering £8 million. if he likes what he see's then Alves will be a Sunderland player on Wednesday’
‘Expect sunderland to sign Naismith.’
(Don’t know how true these rumours are but it has to be said its exciting speculation)
Col

Jul 23, 2007 12:20 PM

I wish Scholes was coming. How good would that be? Hope Baines signs too!!!
