* PESTIVAL is a festival celebrating insects in art, and the art of being an insect. Pestival 2009 runs from 3rd-6th September @ The Southbank Centre and is jam-packed with insect-inspired talks and debates, as well as comedy, music, walks, workshops, installations and experiments. Hello. Please do delete this comment if you so wish.

We're just making sure that everyone knows that our debut album 'Horses For Courses' is available to buy from our little record label's online shop:

http://www.donttellclare.co.uk/shop.htm

Its been selling faster than we expected, and we currently only have around a quarter of our stock left - so we thought we'd better you all know that if you want a copy then now would be a good time to pick one up! If you buy it from the link above then you're buying it direct from us, the label aren't taking a cut - so its a bit like Fair Trade for struggling musicians.

International mail-order is available, just follow the instructions.

Thank you very much, and sorry for making a mess of your profile. If its any kind of consolation, we don't have a MySpace bot, so I'm leaving these comments the old fashioned way. Three -and-a-half thousand of them. My life is so exciting.

Lots of love

A return to Sheffield?! Excellent news Ben. And The Grapes too (your spiritual home, where I first saw you supporting A Hawk and a Hacksaw, ooh, about 5 years ago!)Don't think you've been in town since last summer at the Shakespeare.

As an aside, I'm guessing the 12" version of "We Made Plans to Strangle Your Lover" is now never going to see the light of day? That is a real shame.

Oh well - look forward to June. All the best.

ZOMES are a three piece band from Baltimore, USA, playing live at The Alexandra Vaults in Saltburn on Friday 6th March. Zomes founder, Asa Osbourne, is a member of the legendary band, Lungfish, who have 10 albums released on Washington DC's Dischord Records. Zomes sees Asa joined by sound artist Andrew Hayleck (known for his field recordings of natural ice formations) and Baltimore oil painter, Jordan Kasey. Together they create lo-fi experimental rock which sits on the spaced out and looped side of the fence.

QUACK QUACK are a three-piece prog/kraut/rock/jazz band from Leeds. No strangers to Saltburn, they performed an energetic live set to a small and pleasantly surprised audience at the Victoria in January. They have recorded a session for Huw Stephen's radio 1 show and have CD and vinyl releases on Saltburns' own 'Run Of The Mill Records' label.

ben wetherill is a fascinating musician. unfortunately everything that was good about him was drowned out by the rest of the band. i'm afraid that a sax squawking incessently over the top of his delicate songs/voice does not make for brave or experimental. with a bit of fine tuning (ie lose the sax & have the drummer play quieter) this may work... Or find a new drummer!?!?! mumble grumble mumble...
Weirdo Guise

WEIRDO GUISE PRESENT...

Wavves Straight outta California on their first ever tour. You’ll feel like a frisky 19 year at some awesome beach party as their blown-out, catchy as hell pop washes into your ears. Touring as a duo, but really the brainchild of some 22 year old, you’ll find Wavves records out on De Stijl, Tic Tac Totally and Woodsist. There’s some Doo Wop, JAMC, No Age stuff going on here.
Pens Three young girls outta London, who have a real knack for writing total tunes. On tour with Wavves, they also have an LP coming out the on De Stijl in the US following a sold out tape and 7″. Easily one of the best new UK bands.
Mazes So the new crop of UK bands are here, fitting with all the killer stuff coming out of America right now and these kids have gone and written some of the best songs of the whole bunch. As well as all that stuff and some Pavement, they’ve also got an ear open to the likes of Swell Maps and Television Personalities. From Manchester, this will be their first show.
Hipshakes Fastest, trashest band you’ll ever see. From their chaotic live show, you’ll just make out some real snappy pop gems under their tinnitus triggering wall of guitar noise. Just out of their teens and have already released an LP - with a 2nd on the way and 8 7″ singles, one on the Black Lips own label, another on an Oblivians Goner imprint - yeah they’re a Garage Punk band!

SAT 28TH FEB. AT THE FENTON, LEEDS. DOORS 7.30PM.

BILGE PUMP have been playing their idio(t)syncratic rock for over 15 years. As well as songs appearing on 7" and compilations, Bilge have released two tape only albums and have another two albums on Nottingham's Gringo Records. Popular with the late JOHN PEEL, they recorded two Peel sessions and got plenty of airtime on his Radio 1 show.

PIFCO comprises Steve on guitar and vocals, and Mary on drums and keyboards. They write prolifically and have a CD album out on Run Of The Mill Records. Radio 1's Huw Stephens played it on his show and decided it was his album of the week. Not bad.
