Hi Stephen, congratulations on being appointed Minister for communications, it's brilliant to see Sen Coonan out of her position and very much enlightening to see the ALP with a forward thinking direction to such a vital portfolio in these emerging times...
I wish you all the best, and look forward to seeing some well needed reforms and ideas,
kind regards, Adrian

Hi Stephen,
Congratulations to Labor for winning the 2007 Election by a landslide.
After Mike Kelly won Eden Marnario I knew Labor would win by the margin we did.
I read that Gavu=in and Jacinta are going weell in the half Senat Election?
I voted Labor and when Kevin declared Victory I smiled and though just what Australia needs a Rudd labor Government after 11 and a half years of John Howard.

Dear Mr Conroy,

As per your comments in SMH that a mandatory "clean-feed" internet service for all homes, schools and public computers to filter out banned content would be implemented should ALP gain power.

Does this mean as an adult, I will no longer be able to view content that is perfectly legal, but deemed inappropriate by the ACMA? Or will this Clean Feed be opt-in, the much more sensible solution, where adults can still view content that is inappropriate for children?

Thanks for your time,
Michael

ARE YOU ENROLLED

With the Howard Government finally getting the fortitude to call an election most likely this Sunday, it is now soever important that all of us are enrolled.

Also ensure everyone you know is enrolled so collectively we can rid this great Nation of this insidious Howard Government.

The ONLY alternative is to vote for a Kevin Rudd Labor Government AND vote 1 above the line on the Senate Ballot for LABOR.

Lets do it everyone.

Keep up the good work in the Senate. The high speed broadband policy is good news. You will make a worthy replacement for the dopey Helen Coonan.

Kevin Rudd isn't my friend so I'm saying this to you- the obvious response to the laughable Lib smear on Rudd's health is for him to challenge Johnny Howard to a game of cricket- cue: endless re-runs of Howard's 'bowling' attempt during that visit to Pakistan. And what was that vision of Costello in a track suit today?! *stunned silence*

Hey Steve, is it true that Helen Coonan inherited Richard Alstons Commodore 64 with datacassette when she moved into the Communications portfolio?

Word is that she had to form a task force to find the 'any' key.

As a taxpayer I'd rather have my money invested fixing our essential infrastructure which has been ignored so long. That's why I like your broadbrand plan, it's good to see at least one party looking to the future.

What are the ALP's plans for Telstra? Because I have found that prices for telecommunications seem to be rising every few months? What can a Rudd Labor Government deliver in response to this?

Mr Conroy,
love the plans for broadband awesome idea to bring us up to speed with the rest of the world. But i do hope that it is taken seriously into rural areas as someone who lives in a rural area i know the difficulties of getting broadband and hope that will improve with the ALP in government.

Hey Stephen, greetings from north-east Tazzie, where Optus fear to tread and my house, just 3 minutes drive from the centre of Launceston, has mobile coverage in one corner of one room.

You are fortunate to be up against a Minister who had her brain removed some time before entering parliament.

I hope you will not in this election be putting the interests of the TWU before the right of Tasmanians to have accountable state government and some semblance of environmental protection. There really is nothing to pick between the major parties down here and it's a problem. The unions down here are the ones that give the whole movement a bad name and allow the conservatives to scare ordinary people by merely using the 'u' word.

Hi Stephen, under Labor's broadplan plan will NW tassie receive fibre-to-the-node, or will we be stuck with slower and less reliable wireless like under Howards "grand vision" (hehem quick fix)????
I Am D Best

Jul 13, 2007 2:54 AM

Chelsea as a soccer team, thats the worst choice to come out of labour since you made Kim leader multiple times.

But it is a good idea to get faster broadband.
CARLSON.

Jul 13, 2007 12:18 AM

As a concerned voter please justify to me why we should raid the Future Fund in order to upgrade our broadband network now? I have my 24mbps cable internet now so it is of absolutely no use to me so the thought of a Rudd Labor Government raiding a fund established to maintain the prosperity of this country shrieks of hypocrisy considering how many Labor shadow ministers go on about how the Howard Government is not looking into the long term, when clearly he is and you are the ones who want to raid the future fund for a few cheap votes.

I'm sorry but I am genuinely concerned about this.
