Laugh often, long and loud.
Laugh until you gasp for breath.
And if you have a friend who makes you laugh;
spend lots and lots of time with them!
I invite you to spend "lots and lots" of time laughing by embracing the comedy love! It's FREE and easy: listen to it (or download) become a fan (and join my mailing list). And be the kind of friend who makes others laugh...SHARE it!!!

Shelly Ryan is an ordinary mother waiting for her son to arrive home from school. She is unaware she's been lulled into a trance-like state from her day of running mundane errands.
She hears the door slam and is greeted by a boy she doesn't recognize.
Why is he dressed so funny? Why is the room black and white? And why is SHE standing there in an apron with a plate of cookies in her hand?
(cue hauntingly familiar music...) Because she's entered the:
ZONE!!!

I enjoy driving but NOT sitting in traffic. Instead of engaging in road rage, I play little games to pass the time, like "translate the personalized license plates". I suck at that game.
So in honor of the amount of time I've spent on the road visiting my son at the hospital (who is on the road to recovery and may come home in a few days), I share this comedy.
Love & laughs,
Shelly

Visit the new books category and read dreamer by Peter Cooper - it's a beautiful, but tragic story. I look forward to seeing you there and in the forums!

I'm taking an informal survey. How many of you have worn your (or someone else's underwear on your head? It's not as bad as the guy I reported about in Grand Theft Panty (the mp3 is uploaded on my profile.
Want even MORE excitement? CLICK ON THE IMAGE BELOW. Haha! It is a link to my ReverbNation site where I invite you to watch the video "Introducing Seriously Weird! News" that's about robbers who improvise a disguise.

The severe drought in Georgia has left my once plush Bermuda grass a barren wasteland. Regardless, I'm going out to mow the lawn...in hopes to appease the rain gods. Or give my neighbors a cheap thrill. You see, I'm inspired by some women who have an unusual ritual to revitalize their once fertile crops.
I uploaded a new audio comedy to my profile, so I invite you to listen, laugh, and ENJOY!

Hi Amy, I finally got your book and read it in one night. Seriously, I couldn't put it down. It was SO ME...and some parts were funny as hell...the way you worded things. I feel the book sends a positive message and one I def need in my life right now. Took it to work and I have some married friends that have bought it, so hey, I'm starting a trend among singletons and marrieds alike in Roanoke, VA. I hope to make it some day to one of your appearances. Good luck with everything!

JOIN ME FOR AN HOUR OF COMEDY, MUSIC & MORE...all for a great cause!
The weekend of September 8th & 9th I’ll be making a road trip to Ridgeway, VA to share some comedy love at the Festival for Change, a weekend dedicated to fighting cancer and family violence.
A lot of people are on the team making all of this happen, and I’m honored to have one of them as my guest on the show this week. Carl Zeigler designed the Laughs for Life Logo AND will be filming a documentary at the Festival.
We’ll also enjoy a couple of songs from Indie Music for Life founder Vicki Blankenship.

To make up for the fact I missed my 30 year high school reunion on account of the fact 1) I found out about it 2 weeks before the event and 2) it wasn't worth the airfare and hotel room expenses to go hang out with the same group of people I wasn't cool enough to hang out with back in the day, I've dedicated this week's SHELLY RYAN LATE NIGHT to a great reunion!
This week's comedy guest is long-time friend Ralph Vincent. In May 2006 I appeared on his debut Underground Comedy radio show, and that was the first official time a comedy clip of mine was broadcast. So now it's time to return the favor!
And no coincidence that during his show Ralph played some rockin' music by Federico Fasce...who is this show's Late Night musician. We've heard his music, and this week we'll hear Fede's VOICE!

Hope all is well in your writing world and otherwise. :) I just finished chapter five of (my summer attempt to write) a novel. :) I've also been working on some new poems and an article I pitched to a writing magazine. Lots of rejection slips in the past two weeks; am hoping any day now there'll be a turn of events and more acceptances. :)

Thanks, Amy. :) It still feels kind of (pleasantly) surreal to me that I have the degree now, I've wanted it for so many years. :) I sometimes teasingly put MFA after my name, just to get a rush. Ahhh, the things we poets do.
Can't wait to read your book. I've always been a late bloomer and (dare I say it?) as a writer, that's been one thing that's helped me tremendously. I've also been surprised to learn how many people also say they are late bloomers-- for a long while there (say 1989-2005, haha) I thought I was the only one. :) Now I know (well, most days) that it's not just me. ;-)
Best,
Melanie (Writergal76)
