Thank you to all the students who participated in the SPEAK UP Creative Expression Contest! We received many outstanding essays, drawings, poems, posters and graphic designs, and eventually narrowed the selection to two top entries.
Congratulations to Chris, a high school student who submitted a poem titled “With Open Eyes I’ve Realized,” and EJ, a middle school student who submitted an essay titled “School Violence.” Both students will receive a new iPod touch and their schools will also receive the SPEAK UP School Safety Package, worth $2,500!

Enter the Creative Expression Contest during Save Schools Week to win a new iPod touch!
The Creative Expression Contest for middle and high school students is designed for you to convey your thoughts about the issue of school violence in America. All contestants will receive a prize for participating, and the chosen contestants will receive an iPod touch! The winners' schools will also receive a School Safety Package worth $2,500.
How to Enter:
Respond to one or more of the questions below in the form of an essay, song, rap, poem, drawing, painting or a computer-based design. Submissions can be any length or size. The deadline to enter the contest is Monday, October 27, and the top entries will be announced on Monday, November 3.
-- Are you worried about violence and weapons in our nation's schools? If so, express your concerns, or describe an incident that bothered you.
--What can you and other students do to help prevent violence in schools?
--What can leaders do to get rid of weapons and to stop violence in our country's schools?
