Experimental Philosophy

Aug 8, 2009 9:25 PM

If you're interested in experimental philosophy and you are considering graduate school, this should be a really helpful resource to use when applying. It's a post about the best graduate programs to consider if you hope to work with philosophers who actually do experimental philosophy. Feel free to add comments!

I like to tell myself I was there for not only the birth, but also the formative adolescent years... :p

Hi ! Thanks for the add.

"Out of the Armchair and into the Streets" -
Most unfortunately, in my philosophy classes I never met anyone to carry this ambition. Never would have dreamt of stumbling across this promising idea on myspace.

Thank you for this site :O)

Thanks for the add! You have a really interesting page, love the burning armchair! Action is the vital companion to theory and perspective. :)

Dear Experimental Philosophy,
I am having a problem. I recently got my B.A. in Philosophy and Music with plans to work for a year and apply to grad school. I have recently gotten a job for a non-profit organization, and i help feed people on a daily basis. now i wonder if going to grad school is the best thing to do...i love philosophy, but i don't want to be sucked into acadamia, i feel that the work i am doing is philosophy in action...what should i do!?

"Television is typically watched from the armchair, so experimental philosophers are skeptical of television!"

They should then be skeptical of the internet!

Despite my deep respect for the work of Kant - getting out of the ivory tower is something the philosophers of our days badly need, if they don't want to be reduced to a group of eccentric existences. The longer I study philosophy the less I am understood by all the non - philosophers of my entourage, because I have formed/adopted some concepts that apparently have no counterpart in everyday life. Back to the roots...

the armchair looks a bit like a reindeer with its antlers on fire, looking off into the distance, proudly, emphatically.
